Comfort: The enemy of progress

There’s a reason you often hear that in order to grow and improve your life and do new things, you’ve gotta get outside your comfort zone.

Let’s face it–most people love comfort. Heck, there are parts of my life where I prefer comfort, like when it comes to my clothes, my shoes, and the bed I sleep on.

The problem comes when we start clinging so desperately to comfort that it holds us back.

We get stuck spinning our wheels in something that we come to hate, and that’s not good for us, but because it’s more comfortable than making changes, we keep suffering with it.

Getting your weight and health in order are a perfect example of this. Making different choices about the foods you eat, drinking water instead of half a case of soda, and getting your butt in bed and sleeping instead of staying awake until 2 AM watching Netflix, feels uncomfortable at first.

But so what? Ain’t nobody gonna die from being uncomfortable.

Continuing to treat your body like crap, on the other hand – that WILL put you into an early grave.

I know I’m talking tough, here, but I’m sure you’ve figured out by now that I don’t pull punches.

I tell the hard truths other people wanna coddle you about, because being coddled hasn’t gotten you anywhere.

I respect you as a competent adult capable of making your own decisions, and that means telling you those hard truths and letting you decide what to do with them…whether that’s sticking your head back in the sand for the sake of “comfort,” or finally deciding you’re ready for something different, and a little cushy comfort isn’t gonna get in your way anymore.

If you’re needing a motivational kick in the pants to get your weight off, watch my video below about this very topic.
