Which of these futures will be yours?

I turned 48 on April 5, 2024, and while I’m healthier than a lot of women my age, it reminded me that I ain’t getting any younger.

I bring it up because it also got me thinking about something our very first Rebel Transformation winner, Brittany, once shared about her turning point.

While on a family trip, she was watching how two sisters on her husband’s side of the family behaved on the trip. (These women were both about twenty years older than her.)

One was slender, fit and, out-walked the people a generation younger than she was.

The other, this woman’s sister, was obese and had to be pushed in a wheelchair.

For Brittany, it was like getting a sneak preview of two possible futures.

In one future, she was vital, healthy, and physically able to get around and take care of herself.

In the other, her kids pushed her around in a wheelchair because she failed to take responsibility for her health.

Listen, I know the easiest thing in the world is to read a post like this and either nod your head, tell yourself you’ll start tomorrow, and then get up the next day and keep doing what’s making you heavy and sick…

Or even close the browser window and go rummage around in the cupboards for what “sounds good” because you “can’t deal with” what I’m saying.

Instead of going those routes (probably not for the first time), I invite you to do this instead:

Pick one thing you can do to better support your health, and start doing it NOW.

If you’re not getting on the scale anymore, get back on the scale, and keep doing it every morning after you go potty.

If you’re not getting your water in, start getting your water in again.

If you’re not following the Code Red foods list, start following it again.

Wherever you’re at, pick something and start doing it.

“The future” will be here sooner than you think.

Will you be the person who’s out-walking people twenty years younger than you?

Or will you be confined to a wheelchair that your kids have to push you around in because you’re too sick to literally put one foot in front of the other?

The choices you make now have a lot to do with which of those futures you end up living in…futures that will be here before you know it.

If you need a kick of motivation to get started, watch my documentary, Code Red: Diaries of Madness.

I’ve lost count of how many people have told me it’s inspired them to do the hard things they were avoiding or scared of.
