I’ve experimented with plant-based eating on several occasions. Maybe it works for you, maybe it doesn’t, and like I always say – you’ve gotta find what works for you.
If you do eat a lot of veggies, make sure you don’t rule out frozen veggies. Despite what you may have heard, frozen veggies are superior, not inferior, to most fresh veggies.
One exception is if you get your veggies from a local farmer/at a farmer’s market, or if you grow your own.
Otherwise, frozen is better, and here’s why.
The instant you pick a veggie from its “mother” plant, it begins to lose nutrients.
So the more time that passes between when it’s picked and when you eat it, the more nutrients it loses.
Most “fresh” produce you find in typical American grocery stores is grown in other countries and shipped to us.
Then they sit in the produce section for who knows how long, before you buy them and take them home…where they sit around for who knows how long before you eat them.
Frozen veggies, on the other hand, have their nutrients locked in the instant they’re frozen.
Plus, frozen veggies are typically way more affordable than “fresh.” And once thawed, they taste fresh!
Watch this week’s “What Do I Eat?” to see which veggies I’m eating, and see a brand of frozen veggies I enjoy.
