“Calories in, calories out” and “a calorie is a calorie” are both touted by everyone from doctors, to diet programs, to nutritionists, to personal trainers.
The problem is, they’re both wrong, because neither one takes into account the quality of the calories you eat.
If you’re eating 1500 calories of candy, soda, potato chips, and alcohol, you’re eating stuff that’s constantly spiking your blood sugar.
When that happens, your pancreas has to put out loads of insulin, and part of insulin’s job is to store energy (aka fat).
So if your body’s always producing ungodly amounts of insulin, how can it possibly lose weight?
You probably know the answer–it can’t–from personal experience.
Calories aren’t “bad.” They’re just energy, and we need them to survive.
Yes, you can eat too many. But remember that the quality of calorie matters as much–if not more than–the quantity.
In this week’s What Do I Eat?, I’m sharing a simple hack to add more volume to your meals without adding a bunch of calories and carbs.
