Stop making excuses to fail, and start making excuses to succeed

It’s funny how when we make excuses, it’s usually in a negative way.

It’s about why we think we “can’t,” or why we screwed up and are trying to explain or cover our butts.

Most people can’t reach for these kinds of excuses fast enough.

Personally, I have zero patience for bullcrap excuses.

No, you did not gain weight back because you “had a grandbaby” (unless you gave birth yourself!).

You did not go facedown in a bag of Oreos because “your husband’s a jerk.”

And you did not get drunk and gain five pounds overnight because you “needed to cut loose.”

You did all that stuff because you made choices. Excuses don’t change that.

Instead of reaching for excuses as to why you make choices that set you back, or excuses about why you “can’t,” here’s what I’d love to see you do:

Start making excuses about why you can succeed, will succeed, and ARE succeeding. Some examples for you:

“I’m staying on track because gaining fifty pounds and not being able to get off the floor won’t help me enjoy my new grandbaby.”

“I’m staying on track because abandoning my food plan will only make me feel worse than I already do after fighting with my husband.”

“I’m staying on track by cutting loose with crazy dancing and singing, because I don’t want the weight gain and headache I’d get from cutting loose with alcohol.”

See what I mean?

If you’re gonna make excuses, make them FOR SUCCESS, instead of for failure.

Either way, you’re making a choice.

Choose you and your success, instead of food and your failure, okay?
