Stop dieting right now

Yes, you read the post title correctly. I want you to stop “dieting” right now.

Before I tell you why, let me get clear on what dieting is and isn’t.

Most people label “dieting” as ANY time you change what you eat (particularly if you stop eating certain foods or food categories) or manage how MUCH you eat.

No, that is not dieting.

Dieting is when you:

  • Make a temporary change to try and lose weight, and afterwards, go back to what you were doing that got you fat and sick in the first place
  • Starve yourself because you’re trying to lose weight, or punish yourself for eating “something bad”
  • Follow weird eating patterns like lemon and cayenne pepper water for 14 days, or eating only one or two foods (like cabbage soup, bananas, or whatever it is) instead of a complete meal with healthy fat, protein, and veggies

Now that I’ve clarified what dieting is, here is what dieting is NOT:

  • Dieting is NOT avoiding foods or food categories that cause you to gain weight and feed disease and inflammation (that’s just common sense)
  • Dieting is NOT managing your food volume (vs. eating WAY more food than your body needs, or eating foods that cause your body to store fat and get sick)
  • Dieting is NOT making a permanent, healthy change to the way you eat, in order to manage your weight and prevent illness

I can’t stand diets and I do not support dieting, because diets set you up to fail. They’re unsustainable, unreliable, and miserable.

I DO support proven lifestyle changes that naturally lead to reaching and maintaining your ideal weight, and that contribute to a healthy mind and body.

The fantasy you can binge on whatever harmful foods you want, in whatever quantities you want, at whatever times you want, is appealing. I get it.

But labeling anything that doesn’t fit inside that excessive definition of “not a diet” is completely off-base and programming you to stay fat, sick, and miserable.

See, the problem with “eating what you want, when you want, in whatever quantities you want” is that when people think of doing that, they think of gorging on processed junk food and sugar-soaked crap like candy and baked goods. We’re not talking an occasional bite or serving. It’s ALL THE TIME.

If people were instead thinking of nutrient-dense, filling foods that promote weight loss, like steak and asparagus, coffee with Nut Pods in it, and chicken and cauliflower rice with cream cheese and Code Red Olive Oil, it would be a very different world. And with Code Red, that’s the world I’m working to create.

Until we get there, please give yourself the gift of not doing another “diet”…

And instead, make healthy, sustainable for YOU lifestyle and food changes that make it simple and easy to reach and maintain your ideal weight, and nourish your mind and body into feeling BETTER instead of worse.

If you want things to change, make permanent, and especially, sustainable, changes.

When you’re ready to do that, Code Red is here to help.
