Feeling like a failure is rough, isn’t it?
I’ve noticed that a lot of people who first find Code Red REALLY wrestle with it, especially when it comes to their weight loss.
“I’ve already failed SO many times. How will this time be any different?” they wonder.
But here’s the thing about failure.
Most people completely gloss over the fact that failure is part of the success process.
When a baby first pops out of the womb, does he or she know how to crawl? Walk? Run?
Definitely not. Heck, babies can’t even hold their head up on their own.
But with enough time, development, and practice, they do that and SO much more.
“Yeah, but those are babies, Cristy.”
Right. With babies and kids, we expect them to need to learn new stuff, and fail at it while they’re learning.
Then we hit some arbitrary adult age and decide that if we try at something and don’t master it on the first attempt, it’s the end of the freaking world.
Please.
The willingness to “fail” so you can succeed is a part of being human. It doesn’t end just because you’re an adult.
You’re just less willing to do it for some reason.
I get it, because I don’t love failure either.
But I still go for things. I still started a new company, SHIFT. I still add and move things around in Code Red to serve my Rebels. I still brought the 10 Pound Takedown back on Facebook.
Any of this stuff could, potentially, fail at any time. But if I don’t even go for it, it’s already a failure.
Besides, if you’re SO devastated or paralyzed by fear of failure that you won’t even take even a tiny risk to get the outcomes you want (like losing weight and keeping it off, or whatever it is), step back and look at what you’re already missing out on.
Besides, how bad is it, REALLY, to “fail?”
Let’s explore this a little…
“What if I fail at Code Red?”
Then you’ll still be overweight and sick, just like you might be now. And?
“What if I ask for that person’s number and they reject me?”
Then you’ll still be single, like you already are. And?
“What if I try and get paid to talk about a company’s products that I love, and people laugh at me or nobody buys?”
Then you’ll still NOT be getting paid, like you are now. And?
Do it or don’t do it, but don’t keep torturing yourself by curling up in that in between, wanting what you “can’t” have because you’re SO scared of failing.
Seriously, what’s the worst that can happen?
Grab a piece of paper and write down the horrible worst-case scenarios paralyzing you into inaction.
Odds are you’ll find that the fear of all that happening is scarier than actually facing it.
Listen, people who are successful at something long-term don’t “try” ONE time and give up.
They stick with it, road bumps and all, so that success can happen.
You’re a Code Red Rebel.
So be the resilient Rebel you are…the one who keeps going until you get there.
Whether that’s getting and keeping the weight off, finding that dream relationship, growing a business or online income stream, or something else, go for it….
Because when your day comes, you’re not gonna lie there on your deathbed thinking, “Praise God, I played small and scared and never did anything I really wanted to because I was too scared! Yaye!”
