Read this if you’re scared of failing

Something I hear ALL the time from people who are thinking of joining Code Red is this:

“I’m scared of failing.”

When people say this about weight loss, what they usually mean by failure is not losing their weight (or gaining it back if they do lose any).

If you’re someone who won’t even try due to fear of failure, let me ask you this…

Is doing NOTHING your definition of success?

I’m betting it’s not.

From where I’m sitting, not trying is not only failing, it’s MORE of a failure than trying and falling on your face.

When you fall on your face, you can still say you went for it.

You can still say you didn’t quiver on the sidelines like Bambi and hope and wish stuff happens for you.

You can still say you stepped up and took a risk.

“But Cristy, what will other people think of me if I fail??”

You mean the “other people” who are sitting in the cheap seats judging you because you had the spine to take a risk?

Who cares what they think? It’s YOUR life, remember?

“But Cristy, what if I fail again?”

So what if you do?

You’ve failed at weight loss before, right?

It didn’t kill you. You’re still here. You lived to fight another day.

Failing at weight loss is not the end of the world. Not even close.

And like I said, trying and not succeeding isn’t really even failure.

Failure is doing nothing.

Failure is letting fear win.

Failure is refusing to take risks because of the so-called bad things that “might” happen.

Natasha Hazlett, my coach, uses this funny analogy when it comes to getting out of your comfort zone and taking risks.

She says NOT taking risks is spending your life tiptoeing safely to the grave.

I don’t know about you, but “tiptoeing safely to the grave” is absolutely NOT what I wanna do with my life.

No one reaches their deathbed and says, “Gosh, I’m so glad I played small with my life. What a relief to know I didn’t try new things, take chances, or make a difference.”

Remember what I said, okay?

Going for it and falling on your face is not failure.

Doing nothing is the only failure.
