On-the-go Code Red-approved food ideas

Trips can be fun, but there’s a lot to keep track of! You have to pack clothes, devices, money, personal hygiene items, and sometimes a lot more, especially if you have kids or pets!

If you’re trying to eat better, figuring out healthy on-the-go food options adds to the stress. It can drive you crazy! It doesn’t help that certain things aren’t allowed on airplanes.

Here are some filling, delicious foods that are Code Red-approved and easy to transport:

Nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans), pork rinds, sugar-free dark chocolate, hard boiled eggs, sunflower seeds, celery with cream cheese or almond butter, olives, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, pepperoni, salami, tuna fish, jerky (watch the sugar content!), and nut butter packets.

You can also cook steak, bacon, chicken, or whatever meat you want, and cut it into bite-sized pieces.

Remember that you may not need as much food as you think. One reason people eat on trips is because they’re bored, not because they’re hungry. Put your food in baggies so you don’t eat straight from the container, which is dangerous because it can lead to overeating.

A little pre-planning and pre-packing of your food is all you need to nix the stress of what to eat while traveling. It’s not hard and I know you can do it!
