Hazel and I were out running in downtown Boise, and I was using the same leash setup I’ve been using for years.
Part of it wraps around my waist with a quick-release snap. The rest hooks to Hazel’s harness. That way, I can run without holding a leash.
We were moving in the dark at a good clip, with Hazel out front.
As approached the busiest intersection in Boise, the part around my waist suddenly unsnapped, and the momentum threw Hazel forward into the busy street.
“Hazel!” I screamed, starting to panic.
My scream startled her, and she looked around, also starting to panic.
She was freaking out, I was freaking out, and if I didn’t act fast she might race out into the MIDDLE of this busy intersection and get hit by a car.
Not knowing what else to do, I shouted the German command for “wait.”
Hazel skidded to a stop and dropped into the wait position, giving me time to catch up to her, grab her, and lead her onto the sidewalk.
As I rubbed her neck fur and told her what a good girl she was, I thanked GOD I’d spent sixteen months consistently training her to obey her commands.
If I hadn’t put in all that work, she might have run away from me when the leash unsnapped, or run further into the street and been hit by a car.
Instead, she came out of it safe, I came out of it safe, and we were both okay.
I still don’t understand why the leash around my waist unsnapped at that exact moment (we’d been running for two miles by then), but that’s what happens in life.
The unexpected swoops in and we have to deal with it.
This is ABSOLUTELY the case when it comes to your weight loss.
I encourage my Rebels to plan for their success, because a prepared Rebel is a successful Rebel.
I also know that no matter how well you plan, the unexpected happens.
Someone you love dies, you lose your job, your partner tells you they’re leaving, a pandemic hits, or whatever it is.
If you don’t have new, better habits to lean into when the unexpected comes for you, you’ll fall back into your old ones and regain your weight. I’ve seen it happen too many times to count.
The habits and mindsets you need to stay on track and finally get the weight off, even when life throws the unexpected your way, are the exact same habits and mindsets I teach in the 10 Pound Takedown.
Plus, you get the training you need to lose 10 pounds in 30 days and feel better than you have in years.
Check out the next 10 Pound Takedown on Facebook at www.10PoundTakedown.com.
Come get (or re-learn) the simple habits you need to help end the weight regain and enjoy the rest of your life.
