How much weight should you lose in a month on Code Red?

Ever watched The Biggest Loser?

If so, you know what I mean when I say those contestants lose a staggering amount of weight in a short period of time.

We’re talking 15 pounds in a single week!

You might read that and go, “Wow, I’d love to lose that much weight in a single week!”

I get it. And while it’s bull crap that in order to “safely” lose weight, it has to be 1 or 2 pounds a month, that doesn’t mean the other extreme – doing crazy, dangerous, UNSUSTAINABLE things to lose 15 pounds in one week – is the answer.

Now, on Code Red, there have been people who’ve lost double digits in one week. Usually (not always) it’s really big people who have hundreds of pounds to lose.

But it’s only for the first week (maybe two) of the program, while their body’s dumping toxic water weight.

After that, they lose single digits per week.

If you’re used to losing 1 to 2 pounds a month, safely losing that much – even double that much! – in one week, or even one day, on Code Red, can have you jumping for joy, which is AWESOME.

But it’s still important to understand that, even when you’re doing everything right, your weight’s gonna fluctuate. Some days – the days you don’t get enough sleep, for example – your weight’s gonna go up, or stay put. Then, a day or two later (maybe longer), it’ll move down again.

I’m telling you this because every day on Code Red, I read posts from people ranting about how frustrated they are that their weight’s stalled for a couple days. “I’m so discouraged, I just wanna give up!” they say.

Look. QUITTING will get you exactly NO WHERE.

So if you’re feeling discouraged, it’s possible that unrealistic expectations about your weight loss journey are a factor.
