Pick Your Hard – Episode 18

how to make hard decisions

What Is This Episode About…

In this episode, we’re going to talk about one of the realities of life — everything is HARD so pick what you actually want. The thing about this is, most people don’t get to realize that they always have a decision to make that is hard. Either of the options will always be hard if you come to think of it.

The reality, no matter what decision you make, there is an element of “HARD” that comes with it. It’s hard being fat, being skinny, being short, being tall… It’s all freaking hard. So you will have to make the decision which “HARD” you’ll want to handle.  Because you’ll deal with one or the other…

Hopefully, at the end of the episode, you get to realize which freaking hard will you choose. So pick your hard wisely!

28 Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome back. I noticed that I do that a lot, by the way. You ever noticed that? I always clap my hands like a preacher or something. I may, I don’t know. I’m going to attempt to do this podcast sitting down. You guys know I like to move around a lot. You know I like to use my hands and step back and forth but my feet are killing me right now. I’ve been standing in front of a camera in high heels all day long and that’s up. I Sit down. I wanted to come and record this for you guys cause I am fired up so we’ll see how well I do sitting down and doing my podcast. So I’m Cristy Code Red. Thank you so much for joining me. Always a pleasure to have you here and watching and listening. Thank you. Thank you for your review. Thank you for following me. Thank you for downloading. Thank you for rating this. I just really appreciate it because the podcast is doing really well. You guys, I’m so excited. I’m so excited.

20 I should read a couple of my ah, I haven’t planned this, but I should read a couple of my, let me do that real fast. Let’s see here. Let me just, how do I do it? How do I read the ratings? Oh, let’s see here. Okay. Thank you for your honor. This is from nurse oh, nurse Carey, that’s my sister. Oh, I love you sis. Thank you for your honesty, humor, and style. This is the best podcast out there on healthy living. Oh my gosh, she’s so wonderful.

48 How do I? Oh, see all, here we go. Let’s see. This is Sandra in Montana, Code Red saved me after trying everything under the moon for weight loss, including paying a Dietitian. I haven’t read these, by the way you guys. I’m just reading them for the first time. I found Code Red on Facebook. Cristy’s plans spoke to me so one more time I jumped in, but this was the last time. Aw. I quickly follow the rules and the weight is going away quickly. I am never hungry. I’m a Rebel now and always. PS. I can’t get enough of podcasts and they motivate me more. This topic was spot on. I don’t know which one she’s talking about. I’m a control freak at work. Oh, it was the control freak episode, but mad scientist at home learning to control every aspect of my life. I don’t want to read this because I’m going to cry.

33 This is from pixie girl Gwyn. Cristy’s podcast hits on great topics that get you thinking on how you can change your health and wellness for the better. Thanks for the podcast. Gwyn, oh my gosh. Okay. I’ll read one more now. I didn’t even know. You guys didn’t even know. I haven’t read these. This is from Roger Smith. Exclamation point. I love the Q and A episodes. Keep bringing the realness. It’s what we need. Oh my gosh, you guys. I should read, a one, one star, one. Do I have any one star ones? I mean we’ve got to be fair, right? I’m scrolling. All right, maybe I’ll come back. Okay. Oh you guys. Thank you. I do that more often. How fun was that?

12 Okay guys. Listen, this is a subject that I speak publicly about, like I speak on stages about. I talk about it during the challenges and stuff, but I hadn’t talked about it on my podcast. And man, it needs to be talked about. Man, we all need to hear it and this is, I bet some of you guys know. Are you ready? Pick your heart because it’s all freaking hard. I was talking today about it. And it’s something kind of hit me a little bit of a different stance that I’ve taken on it before because you’ve seen memes. I’m sure I’m not the very first person to ever say, pick your hard. I don’t know. Somebody said it. I’m sure there are no original ideas as Natasha says, but this has really resonated with our Rebels. This is something that I have picked up and I have ran with. I don’t pull any punches when it comes to doing this subject because we’re really, when it comes to anything, because this needs to sink in.

09 You have got to get this into your fake school. You’ve got to grasp this fully because this is going to help you for the rest of your life. Do I have any kids listening right now? Do you have any kids right now? Listen to me. Well, listen up kids. The sooner you can get this, the better. Parents. By the way, let your kids listen to my podcast, right? Cause I’m going to say it the same way you would say it, but somehow and all, when Cristy says that, all of a sudden now they’re going to get it. All right. Let your kids listen to this podcast. I’m not going to curse or anything. I don’t curse. We’re talking about picking your heart pick your heart because it’s all hard.

46 The thing about it is I hear people that I go, it’s so hard to be a baby. They, oh Geez. It’s so hard. It’s so hard. Everything’s hard. Everything is hard. You don’t ever get out of hard. Do you understand that? Do you understand that it’s hard being fat, but it’s hard losing weight. It’s hard being heavy, but it’s hard being skinny and you’re like, well, it’s not hard being skinny. Like I would love, you know? Oh, I, I can’t believe you would say that, Cristy. You don’t know what it’s like to sit on an airplane with his seatbelt extender. No, I don’t personally know, but I understand that it’s hard, but you’re judging the skinny person because the skinny person, in order to keep your weight down, you’re going to have to make some decisions. Okay? In order to keep your weight down, you’re going to have to choose to not go out, not have papa John’s delivered to your house every other night.

41 Okay? Sometimes when you’re during weight loss, your hard could be saying no to Taco Tuesdays with the girls because you’re in weight loss mode and you’re trying to reach your goal and those Taco Tuesdays and Margaritas. Don’t line up with your goal. That’s hard. I get that. It is. It’s hard being fat, but it’s hard losing weight. It’s hard being rich. It’s hard being poor. It’s hard being short. It’s hard being tall. Oh, believe me, tall. People complain they can’t find pants that fit short people complaining that they can’t find pants that fit old people. Young people. I wish I was older. I wish I was younger. Oh my gosh. There’s always something hard about whatever area of your life you’ve got that you’re in. It doesn’t matter who you are. It’s all hard. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich. If you’re Warren Buffet, I promise you I wish I was rich like Warren Buffet.

33 Oh No, you don’t. Oh No, you don’t. You don’t want that guy to set up problems that has a whole set of problems. You don’t even have a clue what you’re talking about when you wish you were like somebody else stopped wishing you were like somebody else. All right, we got that person already. We don’t need another one. We need you to be you. So stop like, I wish I’d be a blank. Believe me. You know what? Don’t be wishing for somebody else’s life. You don’t understand what’s coming with that life. What comes with that responsibility. I’ve been on both sides of having money and not having money. They both come with their own set of problems. So stop wishing you were Warren buffet because he’s gotta make very hard decisions too, that you don’t even have a clue about you and I don’t even have a clue about, or you’re passing judgment on people that you and you think that whatever’s he that though.

24 Well that’s easy. That’s easy. No, it’s all freaking hard. But what it boils down to is you will have to make that decision. You will have to choose which hard you go with. You can either walk past your coworker’s desk, the weight of the Water Fountain to fill up your code. Red Water bottle. I don’t have mine here with me. Shoot. I was going to hold it up and not eat the Hershey’s kisses off her desk. You can choose the heart of gagging down your water or you can choose the heart of eating the Hershey’s kisses, but having blood sugars through the roof and unchecked diabetes and a weight problem and a stomach ache and a headache. Okay. Both of them are hard walking past her desk and drinking your water and gagging down that water. That is hard. I get it. I have a hard time drinking my water too.

17 I know it’s hard to gag down. Some people are like natural. I read people’s paperwork for the custom programs are like, I love drinking water. I drink it all the time. Okay, well good for you. I can’t enjoy it. I gag it down like some people do. So I think refilling that water jug over and over and over and sticking with your water and getting your water during the day is hard. That is a hard, it is a hard, that’s going to get you to a better health. It’s a hard, that’s gonna get you thinner. It’s a hard that’s going to clear up your skin. It’s a hard that’s going to help you feel full. It’s a hard, this is going to help you pass toxins through your body and help you digest better and help your hair and nails grow and help your skin glow.

54 But it’s still, you chose the water route or you chose the Hershey’s kisses route. They both come with their hard people. Look at heavy people. You know? When I was heavy, at least I can eat papa John’s every other night. At least I can go out Margarita Mondays and I can go off for Taco Tuesdays. When I was heavy, I could eat anything they want. I could eat anything. I didn’t care. It was so good. [inaudible] oh really? Yeah. How has that peripheral neuropathy, Huh? How is a blindness? How has that impotence, okay. How is that coming for you? Because that’s what’s going to happen with that unchecked diabetes you got going on. How is a shopping in the big girl section of the store? How is that going for you? You like that? Do you like having to ask for the a seatbelt extender? Do you like the fact that the guy is rolling his eyes as you’re walking towards him knowing he’s got to sit next to you on the plane?

45 You guys have all been there. You know what that feels like? So you want to brag about the crap that you eat, but you’re forgetting all the downfalls of being heavy. Not to mention a shortened life, not to mention you burdening your loved ones. So you’re going to have to make a decision. They all come with a decision. Every single hard comes with the decision. It is black or white. You Choose Code Red, you choose to drink your water. You choose to turn off your phone a little earlier and get your sleep or you choose to be fat, sick and miserable. See, to me it just makes sense. Like to me it’s just, it’s one way or the other and that’s why I just had a friend that messaged me, longtime friend, I’ve known him for 10 years and he says, will you please meet my wife and anymore I don’t meet people at all because it’s just too difficult to try to meet people for coffee.

37 And anyway, a good friend of mine, I said yes and I said, but let me tell you something. All right, I am not going to put up with her bullcrap excuses. All right, cause he says she’s having such a hard time losing weight, would you please just talk to her? And I like him so much. I’ve never met her before but I like him and he’s always been really good to me and I said I absolutely would not put up with her bullcrap excuses. All right, I’m going to come at her raw and real and I’m not going to pull any punches cause that’s what bothers me about people like that. Well I’m having a hard time losing weight. All right. There’s a very small percentage of people that need a thyroid panel done on them because they have serious medical issues that are actually preventing them from losing weight.

17 But I even have, we even have people that are going through chemo that are losing weight and doing really well in the right way because they’re eating real food, drinking water and sleeping. They’re actually getting healthier, even going through chemo. So don’t give me the bull crap. Well, I just can’t lose weight. I’m having a hard time losing weight. You booboo. Woo. So I can pretty much tell you how the conversation’s going to go. It’s going to be me getting in her face saying, this is bull crap. You are choosing. Don’t give me that bull crap that I can’t lose weight. Poor me, poor me. Because you are choosing this path. You are choosing cupcakes. You’re choosing waffles. You’re choosing almost and pancakes at freaking McCall pancake house. You’re choosing a half a case of diet coke a day. Don’t give me that bowl and it because you have a choice.

08 I can’t handle that, but it’s so hard, Cristy. I’m not going to sit there and take that whining from her. I don’t know why she wants to meet me because she’s going to get our huge, really big awakening and I know what her husband’s doing. Her husband used to be a m and is a competitive bodybuilder and you know, I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going on. He’s probably saying, would you just please say to her what I usually say to her, I’m sure she’s super nice and she knows what she’s getting into. She already follows me, but I’m going to come down on her like white on rice. I’m not going to stand there and listen to some bull Loney excuses on why I can’t lose weight. You are choosing to put crap in your mouth, you know, 99% of the time. Sometimes it’s medically related, but a lot of people want to blame their weight on medical nine 99% of the time it’s just the bull crap you’re shoving in your mouth.

57 You always have a choice of which hard you want to choose because you’re not going to get out of the hard. The hard part in life never goes away. And if you’re listening to me and you’re a young kid right now, you’re a teenager or you’re, you’re young and you can kind of understand what I’m saying or whatever age you are. I’m not saying that life is bad because it’s hard. So what? Like I don’t care that it’s hard. I want it to be what it is. I liked that it’s this hard. I like that every single day of my life I had to push myself hard every day that I have hard things I’m doing every day. Things that I’m uncomfortable doing. Things like legal contracts, all my Lord. I mean, talk about just for me mind numbing. I’m just negotiating contracts like God just put, you know, and I’m not trying to say to the young listeners right now, I’m not trying to say that like you should dread life because it’s so hard.

50 But I mean, unless you want to live in a cushy life, living in some dump, not amounting to anything, living off welfare, like whatever. If that’s you, if that’s the way you want to live in, you don’t, you don’t, you don’t want to aspire to anything. Okay, well, I’m not talking to you. I’m, that’s fine. If you just like, you’re just so soft and you’re so hellbent on just not ever doing anything with your life and you’re just going to be a total loser. All right? Well, whatever. Okay, so, but don’t let what I’m saying scare you. I’m saying that every decision you make, there’s going to be a hard aspect of it. So you choose which one you want because just cause you’re going to choose to lose weight doesn’t mean life’s gonna get any easier. It’s gotta be hard as well. Yeah, the Code Red Program is hard.

32 I don’t let you have any cheat meals. Oh Bayou, I don’t let you have any cheat meals because it’s for your own good. You don’t need to reintroduce sugar back into your body once you’ve detoxed. So sorry. Weight watchers lets you have anything you want as long as you stay within your point range, go to them if you want. Cheat meals. Yeah, Code Red is hard because I hold your feet to the fire cause I don’t accept anything less than your best cause I don’t accept anything less than you’ve been completely compliant and following the rules 100% I expect that from all my Rebels. She’ll Code Red is hard, I guess. I guess that aspect is hard because you’re not allowed to screw up. You’re not allowed to deviate from the program. You’re not allowed to cheat and to go, whew, did I’m just drinking and dancing.

16 You’re not allowed to do now on Code Red. So if you think that’s hard, then that is not the program for you. I don’t want to fight with you. Don’t come on Code Red. But if you’re ready to get this weight off forever and feel your absolute best, then yeah, come do my hard because the flip side of this is continuing down the road. You’re going down the continuing with the high a-one CS, continuing with the high medical costs, continuing with the loads of medication, continuing with your weight creeping up a little bit, a little bit, a little bit more and more and more every year. That’s the road you’re heading down show. You can go down that road or you can it on the Code Red Road, whichever one you want. It’s one or the other, but this way is hard and this way is hard.

59 You can choose this one or this one. That’s it. Which way is it going to be? You can choose the hardest tastes to go to college. You can choose to heart. It is to work at a convenience store because you chose to not go get a secondary education. You can choose that one or that one. They’re both hard. You can choose to have kids and to have that financial burden of children and that complete stress. Or you can choose to not have kids and not have any offspring and not have any errors like me and not have any, never experienced that. That’s hard to, I never will experience what mothers feel like. I’ll never experienced that. That’s going to be hard too. You can choose one way or the other. It is so clear. You are never going to get out of hard. You need to understand that, that every path you take has a level of hard.

49 So you choose which hard you want. I mean, it just seems so clear to me. You ain’t never getting out of the rules. You ain’t never getting out of hard. I mean, even Oprah Winfrey said, Barbara Walters asked her one time, what is the one thing that you haven’t accomplished? And she said, Oprah Winfrey said, if I will finally get my weight under control, then I will have accomplished it all. So hope were Winfrey. One of the top richest, most influential women in the world still has to choose her hard. She still battles with food. Barack Obama, Warren Buffet, Kobe Bryant, Oprah Winfrey, Cristy, Code Red, my dad, Larry. Everybody’s got a level of heart in their life. They have it. They have to choose it all the time, every day, no matter what. Well, how are you going to handle that? Which way you’re going to go. Cause it’s totally up to you.

41 Like, look, you know, if you choose the heart of being obese or being overweight and sick, that’s fine. Just understand that you chose it and you’ve got to deal with the consequences. If you choose the weight of going down, Code Red, going down the path and get yourself healthy and whole again and get yourself healed and getting yourself to a healthy weight for your frame and getting herself fitting into clothes that you want. Getting your intimacy and your love life up, getting her confidence up, getting your energy up, sleeping better, having your skin clear up if you choose that path, cause that’s what’s gonna happen with Code Red. If you choose das path, understand it’s going to come with some sacrifices too. It’s going to come with some hard. You’re going to have to say, notice some things. You’re going to have to say no to some people.

25 As long as you understand that you’re going to be so much better off in life. As long as you can grasp that fact that nobody comes out of the decision, you cannot bury your head in the sand and act like it ain’t happening. It’s happening. You cannot ignore the decision. You cannot walk away from this. You have to choose which one are you gonna choose. I know this was a little bit of a, I’m kind of a heavy subject. Sorry about that, but I get so fired up. To me, it’s just black and white. Which hard are you going to choose today? You’re going to choose the heart of eating the Hershey’s kisses off your coworker’s desk or you’re going to choose the heart of walking past those Hershey’s kisses in filling up your water bottle and said, I think that’s a really great scenario.

06 A really great example of this that a lot of you guys can relate to. Well, it’s hard to prep my meals. It’s hard to prep my meals and takes an hour on Sunday nights. I can’t believe it, Cristy. Oh really? Okay, well, if you don’t prep your meals, you don’t get your health in order. You’re going to spend an hour at your diabetic doctor’s office on Monday morning. Which one do you want? Because you’re going to spend that hour one way or the other. See It’s pay now or as pay later. Do you understand that? Either you get your health in order now or it’s you’re going to get it in order later. It’s gonna catch up to you. It’s now or later, but it’s going to catch up to you. It’s much easier if you do it now as it gets harder the older you get. But understand, no matter what you’re going through in life, aside from weight loss, you are going to have to make that decision.

49 Which hard do you want to choose? Because you could get good grades and you could stay in school. You can get a scholarship and that’s hard. Believe me, studying, oh crap. I mean that’s hard. Or you can run with the wrong crowd. You could go to jail and do time you choose. You absolutely have a choice,100%. Nobody can make this decision for you. It’s up to you. All right guys, I care about each and every one of you. I’m glad you were here with me. Pick your hard because it’s all freaking hard. It is and I’m glad you listened. Thanks for listening.
