Are you an emotional eater?

I’ve seen emotional eating sabotage the best of them.

And I’ve battled it, too.

I define it as eating when you’re not hungry in order to cope with emotions.

For example, you have a stressful day at work. Maybe your boss snaps at you, your co-worker is moody and difficult, and you’re stuck dealing with one snarky customer after another.

You come home, pour a glass of wine, and settle on the couch with an entire can of Pringles.

Or maybe a loved one is rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

You huddle in the waiting room, a complete wreck, wondering if you’ll ever see them again.

Desperate to cope, you head to the soda and vending machines for a Pepsi and a bag of M&Ms.

You always feel better while you’re eating.

But the next morning, you sit up in bed with a stomachache, feeling like crap, and wonder, “What the hell is wrong with me?”

You commit to doing better. And for a day or two, you manage…

…until the next emotionally trying time rolls around. Next thing you know, you’ve eaten half a gallon of cookie dough ice cream.

The weight keeps packing on. When your jeans start feeling tight, you tell yourself that the company must be making the sizes smaller. And you avoid looking at yourself in the mirror or window reflections as (especially from the neck down).

If any of this resonates, first of all, know that you’re not alone. Not only am I an emotional eater, I have clients who are.

After watching them struggle, I decided I had to do something.

So I hired Larry Terherst, LCPC, MS, with years of experience treating emotional eating, to create a four-part video training.

Larry (who is also my dad) will teach you how to figure out your triggers, and how to put a plan in place to “catch” yourself when one of those triggers hits.

Not knowing what’s causing your emotional eating, and blaming it all on “willpower,” doesn’t work. If it did, you wouldn’t be struggling with it.
