If you’re doing this, stop!

“I only lost 2 pounds this week. Disappointed.”

If you’re stunned someone would complain about losing two pounds in one week, I’m totally with you.

But it happens in every single 10 Pound Takedown Challenge.

(That right there should tell you how powerful the challenge is – people are “disappointed” to lose 2 pounds in one week, even though on other stuff they’ve tried they were happy to lose that much in a month!)

A lot of people who participate in a 10 Pound Takedown lose 2 pounds overnight, so I get why people who are losing 2 pounds a week might feel inadequate.

But the reason they’re feeling inadequate is because of a mindset many of us have, and if you let it get the better of you, it destroys success and kills happiness.

And that mindset is: Comparing yourself to others.

Human beings are naturally competitive, and in some cases, competition can be super motivating.

For example, the 10 Pound Takedown includes first, second, and third place prizes for people who lose the highest percentage of their body weight, because the idea of winning prizes really motivates a lot of people.

Plus, healthy competition can motivate you to be and do better. It’s often exhilarating!

But when it gets in your head (especially at times it doesn’t need to be there), it can decimate your success.

Plus, constantly comparing yourself to other people isn’t what people who are truly confident and comfortable with themselves do. It’s why they’re so fun to be around!

So focus on making YOUR journey the best it can be, regardless of what everyone else is doing.

Just because Sally lost 2 pounds overnight and you lost that much in one week doesn’t make Sally’s journey “better” than yours.

Your weight’s headed in the right direction. Be grateful for that, celebrate it, and as my sister Cari says, row your own boat!
