Traveling as a Rebel: Do you feel confident, or does it make you nervous?
Either way, the key is to plan ahead.
To help you do that, here are some of my favorite travel tips.
First of all, I like to bring my own food, and I recommend you do, too.
Most airports have a lot of junk, but they also have a lot of Code Red-approved options.
Same deal when traveling by car. Gas stations, convenience stores, supermarkets–pretty much everywhere you’ll be able to find something.
So all that being the case, why do I recommend bringing your own food?
Because when you don’t, you run the risk of letting yourself get way too hungry, and then not being able to find anything approved in time.
And by the time you find something, you’re so ravenous you might make a choice that’s not the best thing for you.
Bringing your own food helps you avoid that risk.
It’s really easy to do, because there are plenty of Code Red-approved travel-sized foods available, like hard-boiled eggs, coconut oil or nut butter in individual packets, beef sticks, nuts, and my favorite: Sardines packed in water! (Not the sardines packed in oil, because it’s usually a low-grade oil that’ll cause inflammation.)
You can also get individually-wrapped packages of vegetables and dip, and individual cups of guacamole.
If you absolutely have to buy food at the airport or eat airplane food, stick to meat, veggies, and nuts. You’re not required to eat pretzels or cookies or chips just because the flight attendant offers them to you on the airplane.
Another thing it’s important to do when you travel is stay hydrated. You’re WAY more susceptible to dehydration when you’re traveling.
Plus, it’s common for interstitial fluid to pool in your extremities from all that sitting, and the best thing you can do to combat it is get your water in, so your body can flush out all that excess fluid.
