So what if you DO want to cheat all through the holidays?
Well, that’s not exactly news, is it? 😂
Most people do think about cheating from time to time…or a lot.
Whether it’s cheating on an eating plan, cheating on your significant other, cheating on your taxes, or whatever it is…if you’re being honest with YOU, the thought of cheating in some way has crossed your mind in life.
It’s human nature to “see what you can get away with.”
We all have a spirit of free will, and seeing what we can get away with is a way to rebel against perceived control.
The saying “give someone an inch and they’ll take a mile” is probably based on this part of human nature.
What matters more than thinking about cheating is whether you actually cheat.
That being said, if you sit around daydreaming about cheating, you’re not setting yourself up for success.
What you focus on expands. If you focus on cheating, it dramatically ups the odds that you will.
Seriously, if you’re gonna daydream, daydream about staying on track and getting the weight off!
AND remember that just because you have a thought doesn’t mean you have to act on it. That’s a choice on your part.
You can choose NOT to act on thoughts that’ll set you back; and you can also choose to act on thoughts that’ll help you be successful.
The choice is yours.
As for wanting to cheat over the holidays, a couple of questions to consider…
Has doing that EVER actually helped you get (or keep) the weight off?
How many years have you said to yourself, “I’ll just get back on track January 1,” and instead packed on MORE weight?
I’m betting the answer to question one is NO, and the answer to question two is “More years than I can remember.”
If you keep repeating patterns that get you results you don’t want, you’ll keep getting results you don’t want.
The answer is not to repeat the pattern again thinking “this time will be different.”
The answer is to bust up the pattern.
Regarding the holidays, that means saying no to crap and yes to YOU.
It means saying no to type 2 diabetes, migraines, and joint pain, and YES to clothes that fit, waking up pain-free, and less medication.
Again, the choice is YOURS.
What will YOU choose?
