When you first learn that we drink a gallon of water a day on the Code Red Lifestyle™, it’s a big adjustment for most people.
Even though a lot of people drink three pots of coffee a day, or a 12-pack of soda, or a bunch of Gatorade, and just about anything else that’s not water, the thought of drinking a whole gallon in one day, every day, feels daunting.
Hey, I get it – water’s not my favorite thing to drink, either!
But I do drink it, because I know it’s good for me, and long gone are the days where I’ll refuse to do something good for me just because it’s not as “fun” as unhealthy beverage options.
Water is important. Sleep is the #1 rule in weight loss, and water is #2, so if you want your weight off, you have to get serious about drinking ALL your water. It’s not negotiable, and you’re weight’s not gonna drop the next day just because you “tried” to get all your water in.
I prefer to see my Rebels get used to drinking straight up plain water. It’s what I do, and what most of my Coaches and Leaders do.
But if you need to work up to that, here’s a few Code Red-approved ways to help you get that water in:
- Put a tea bag in your water bottle. Not powdered instant tea. Actual tea bags only, and one per water bottle. Tea comes in tons of flavors, so you’re sure to find something you enjoy. (And no, you can’t add sweetener and still count it as your water.)
- Put approved berries or lemon slices in your water. Infuse your water with blueberries or strawberries, or add a couple lemon slices, for a nice, subtle fruit flavor. Just remember that if you eat any of it, it counts as a meal.
- Add the Ultima Electrolyte Replenishment Supplement to your water. Electrolytes need replaced on this lifestyle, and adding Ultima to your water kills two birds with one stone. You can get Ultima here: https://amzn.to/31E5GF2. I’d start with less than the recommended amount and see how you do, just because loading up on Ultima in your water could get pricey.
Remember to start your water early, and try to finish by 5 p.m. If you’re drinking it up until bedtime, you’ll be up all night peeing.
One of my Leaders, Nancy Bond, came up with the idea to take 10 sips of her water every time she picked up her water bottle. That helps her get her water down a lot sooner!
Keep drinking your water, even if it seems like a lot at first. You’ll adjust, and so will your bladder.
Stick with it, and before you’ll know it you’ll be craving the stuff!
Water helps you sleep better, helps your hair and nails grow, helps your organs function at optimum level, helps your skin clear up – there’s SO many benefits. So stick with it!
