Mindset is something most people battle with in some area of their lives.

And without the right mindset, success is a lot harder to achieve and maintain.

It reminds me of something I tell my Rebels about losing weight.

Sleep is the number one rule in weight loss. You can be doing everything else right, but if you’re not sleeping, your weight loss will stall. You may even gain weight!

Mindset is the same way. You can be doing everything else right, but if your head’s not it in, you may struggle and fizzle out.

“Jeez, Cristy, that’s not very comforting!”

Hey, I’m not gonna leave you hanging!

I’ve got three amazing mindset tips ready to go to help you stay in the game (or get back on track if you’ve fallen off the wagon).

1) Put an end to comparitis. I see this constantly with my clients. “So-and-so is losing weight at a faster rate than I am! It’s SO discouraging! Why isn’t my weight coming off that fast? I feel like quitting!”

My sister, Cari, has a great saying that applies here:

Row your own boat.

If comparing yourself to others makes you feel like quitting, then knock it off!

Everybody’s journey is unique to them. Some people lose weight faster than others, but everybody gets their weight off when they stay consistent, follow the rules, and work the lifestyle.

The only people who don’t are the people who give up.

Just because others are succeeding doesn’t mean you’re a “failure.” Stay focused on your own weight loss journey, always.

2) Take control. My clients tell me, “I’m going on vacation and I’m SO nervous!” Or, “My family is upset that I’m not eating dinner with them!” Or, “My friends want me to go out to eat. How do handle this?”

First of all, I want you to remember that food does not fly off the plate and shove itself down your throat. You have to pick it up and put it in your mouth. Keep that in mind if you end up in situations where bull crap food is nearby.

Next, set yourself up for success by pre-planning.

Take your own food on the vacation. Or, once you arrive, go on a shopping trip and buy your own Code Red-approved food. Have a quick, easy, Code Red-approved food with you at all times for food “emergencies.”

Talk to the people you’re vacationing with about having options suitable for the Code Red Lifestyle. If they won’t cooperate, again, bring or buy your own food.

Contact the restaurant you and your friends will be going to and ask if they can accommodate you. Look their menu up on the internet. Most places are used to people with unique food needs and are willing to work with you.

Finally, I want you to wrap your head around the fact that you don’t need other people’s permission to take your life back.

The people around you can either have the slender, healthier, happier you who makes different choices than they’re used to seeing, or they can have the obese, sick, miserable you who feels like crap but “fits in.”

Whichever “you” they tell you they prefer, remember that it’s your life, and you’re the one who gets to live it.

That doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t ever hear input from others. But bottom line: You have to take care of you. Always.

3) Believe you’ll succeed! Failing at weight loss over and over again can take a toll on our self-esteem. We may feel hopeless, or terrified of failing again.

It doesn’t matter what I believe, what your spouse believes, or what your family and friends believe.

What matters is what YOU believe.

If you believe you’ll fail, you probably will.

But if you believe you can do this, and you refuse to settle for anything less than success, No. Matter. What., then nothing and no one can stop you.

It’s time for YOU to believe in you.
