You can do this, even if it seems hard

You’re in weight loss mode, but your family’s not. So they order a pizza, and it just arrived. You can smell it even before they open the box.

You’re not about to cheat and derail all your progress, but you realize you don’t want to sit and watch your family inhale that pizza, either. So you go upstairs to wait it out.

You’re choosing your health over pizza…a food that was partially responsible for why you used to be so overweight…and it’s moments like this where you really feel what it means to pick your hard.

Look, I get it. Even I’m tempted sometimes. My husband eats Code Red a lot of the time, but not always, and sometimes he brings food home I wish he wouldn’t. It calls my name, just like it calls yours.

Plus, most of us spent our whole lives eating what we want when we want.

And thanks to a lifetime of training, our minds are wired to associate the bull crap food with happiness, stress relief, comfort, and a bunch of other emotions.

To top it all off, a lot of foods are either naturally addicting (like sugar and wheat), and/or are chemically engineered to be addicting.

I know it feels like the deck is really stacked against you, and because I always give it to you straight, I have to tell you that, honestly, it is.

But before you cave in to that impulse to eat something you know may taste great in the moment, but is going to cost you in self-esteem, medical bills, frumpy clothes you have to settle for instead of beautiful clothes you actually want to wear, and hiding from pictures, there’s something I want you to think about.

You are a Code Red REBEL. Being a Rebel isn’t for everyone – not because we don’t welcome anyone who’s truly ready to take their life back, but because some people aren’t there yet.

Our society is conditioned to abuse food and alcohol for any reason under the sun, and people who don’t may struggle to fit in.

In those moments where you feel like an outcast, I want you to remember two things:

One: Your choices in those moments determine your future, which means you have the power, always, to choose whether your future is one of health and looking and feeling amazing, or one of obesity and disease.

Two: Your Rebel family is always here for you. We get it. We’ve been through those moments, too. And we’re still succeeding, which means you can, too.

You may feel alone in those moments, but you’re NOT. There are Rebels in the world with you, and our numbers are growing. See for yourself by joining a coaching group or a challenge, or coming to an event.

Whatever you do, make the choice you know is right. Often the right choice isn’t the easiest, but it is the most rewarding. You deserve that for yourself.
