Americans personally waste thousands of dollars a year (that’s per average person, not in total) looking for the next weight loss quick fix.
In a way, I get why. The idea of giving up “your favorite foods,” even for a short time, isn’t appealing to ANYONE (me included).
But by trying to avoid anything even remotely close to hard, all you’re doing, ironically, is making it that much harder to get and keep your weight off.
Listen, changing how you eat is hard. Period.
Some ways of doing it are less difficult than others.
Code Red Rebels, for example, call doing Code Red the easiest hard you’ll ever do.
That’s because we eat real, filling food you can buy at any supermarket, plus focus on water, sleep, and a few simple rules.
The Code Red program itself isn’t hard.
It might be different than how you’re used to eating, but once you get used to that, it’s not hard to follow.
What’s hard is getting out of your own way enough to follow it correctly and consistently. (That’s true of any program.)
All that being said, if you’re fixated on how hard it is to lose weight, and constantly moaning about it, let me ask you this:
Why is being heavy and sick so hard?
Yep, you read that right.
Why is being fat and sick so hard?
I bet your brain’s helpfully supplying the answers, because our brains love to answer questions.
Asking yourself why weight loss is so hard invites your brain to tell you all those reasons.
Asking why being fat and sick is so hard also invites your brain to tell you all the reasons.
Which question do you think is gonna help you stick with the Code Red Lifestyle™?
It’s not news that asking better questions gets you better answers, but it is important to remember.
So often we get stuck dwelling on questions that keep us stuck, scared, depressed, anxious, and so on…
When we could be asking questions that help us get and keep the results we actually want.
So that being the case, start asking yourself questions like these:
“Why am I consistently losing weight?”
“Why am I keeping this weight off?”
“Why is getting this weight off worth it?”
“Why do I want to lose all my weight and keep it off?”
“Why do I feel better when I’m eating right?”
Seriously, try it out. Then write your answers down in a journal or notepad.
Make a habit of asking yourself questions that actually help you and keep you focused on what you want (instead of what you don’t), and watch how much easier it is to lose weight and keep it off.
To be clear, I’m not saying it won’t ever feel hard again.
I’m saying that asking yourself better questions ensures you don’t accidentally make it harder than it needs to be.
Heck, do it consistently enough, and it might end up being easier than you ever thought possible. Only time and consistency will tell, and you’ve got nothing to lose by giving it a real shot.
Ask yourself better questions, and get better answers!
