When people say weird things about your weight loss

Recently on Instagram, I posted a picture of me sitting on my mom’s love seat, with Hazel sprawled across my lap.

One of my IG followers saw the photo, DMed me, and said something like, “Glad to see you finally sitting down and relaxing!”

It’s definitely not a nasty message (because I do get those), but something about it rubbed me the wrong way.

My guess is, this person sees stuff I post, figures I work hard, and was trying to be supportive of me taking a break (which is kind of them)…

Or they’re intimidated by people who work harder than they do, so seeing me sitting down somehow made them feel better about the fact they aren’t doing as much as they could be with their own life.

So which is it?

🤷‍♀️

The reality is, I WAS working during that photo.

I was watching the recording of my Identity Shift workshop, evaluating myself, and seeing what I could have done better.

If somebody who actually knows me really well were to say, “Glad to see you relaxing,” it probably wouldn’t have hit me the way it did.

But because the person who said it doesn’t know me or what I was actually doing, it rubbed me the wrong way (and again, I know they weren’t trying to be nasty or anything).

So how does all this matter to you?

Simple.

As you lose weight and learn to keep it off, odds are excellent that you’re gonna get comments about your weight loss that rub you the wrong way.

Some classics:

“You’re getting too skinny.”

“You don’t need to lose any more weight.”

“You don’t look like you anymore.”

“Oh come on, you can have ONE bite.”

“You shouldn’t drink that much water.”

🙄

That’s the kind of stuff you will NEVER hear someone say to you at a Code Red Retreat.

Now, if you have a Home Study program and are still in weight loss mode, you might hear stuff like this:

“Where’s your food scale?”

“I don’t see your phone. Are you logging that?”

“This is a CODE RED event! There ain’t no ‘taking a break’ from your program!”

😂

But you won’t hear bullcrap about being too skinny or people encouraging you to derail yourself.

And you absolutely will not be surrounded by a buffet of tempting bullcrap food you have to waste energy resisting.

Instead, you’ll get your own private bedroom and bathroom in a luxurious yet charmingly rustic lodge.

Your healthy, tasty Code Red-approved meals (along with coffee, tea, and lots of electrolytes) will be provided, along with food scales to help you weigh everything and Coaches standing by to help you log your food, if needed.

You’ll get a VIP swag bag full of goodies (including Code Red joggers and a hoodie to keep you warm while you’re there).

You’ll get quality time with other Rebels, me, Certified Coaches, and maybe even some Code Red Mentors (depending on who ends up coming).

I’ll pay for you to go zip lining.

We’ll go on a morning hike as a group (or you can skip it if you’d rather take your time getting ready or can’t keep up).

My Certified Coaches will host workshops (topics TBD, but Coach workshops are always a hit!)

You can soak in the lodge hot tub at night before bed to unwind and connect with other Rebels.

We’ll play a couple of fun games to bond as a group.

You’ll be able to get pictures with me, other Rebels, Coaches, and any Mentors who come.

You can explore the Tamarack “village,” go axe throwing (not included with the retreat, but you can do it on your own or with other Rebels as time permits), and maybe grab a souvenir.

Most people who come to a Code Red Retreat lose weight, so you may even go home a few pounds lighter!

The next Code Red Retreat is set for September of 2024, and right now you have two date options to choose from:

– September 19-22
– September 22-25

There are 25 spots per retreat (so 50 total).

As of this post, almost half the spots are claimed. (It might be more by the time you see it.)

There’s a pay in full option as well as a two-pay option, where you pay 50% now and 50% over the summer.

You can also choose ShopPay as your payment option and see what payment plans it’ll offer you.

To reserve your ticket to one of this September’s Code Red Retreats, head to www.coderedlifestyle.com/retreat to grab one of the remaining spots (if any are still available).
