“What’s it like to actually KEEP the weight off?”
If you’ve never been able to keep your weight off long-term (or you you’ve been heavy for as long as you can remember and have never gotten all the weight off), then you may have that exact question.
My answer?
It’s pretty freaking awesome.
Especially when you learn and FOLLOW the Code Red maintenance roadmap.
See, the roadmap teaches you how to make what you eat more flexible than it is in weight loss mode, and do it WITHOUT regaining your weight.
That means if you want to have a piece of cake at your grandson’s birthday party, it shows you how.
If you want chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant (my favorite, hello), then same deal…the Code Red maintenance roadmap shows you how to occasionally eat chips and salsa (and other things that we remove during weight loss mode), and do it without regaining your weight.
Again, to be clear, going back to exactly what you were doing before isn’t an option if you want to KEEP OFF the weight you’ve lost and stay free of any physical or mental ailments you’ve reversed.
But when you follow the maintenance roadmap, it prevents weight regain…
While also giving you the exact amount of food flexibility YOU can handle.
Understanding how much flexibility YOU can handle is key, because your first impulse is gonna be to go back to what you were doing that led to getting obese (and probably sick).
There’s also foods that trigger you to binge or go off the rails in some other way, and reintroducing those foods is a huge risk (especially without some constraints to “limit the damage”).
Keeping the weight off is about:
- Accepting that going back to your old ways means getting your old results. You’ve got to find NEW ways so you can keep the NEW result of staying at goal weight.
- Being honest with yourself about how much (or if) you can really eat “the foods you love” without going off the rails.
- Being strategic about how and when you reintroduce foods, as well as which foods you reintroduce, and in what quantity.
The Code Red maintenance roadmap is pretty freaking amazing, and so is KEEPING off the weight you lose, so you can sit on the floor to play with your grandkids (and get back up without help)…so you can wake up in the morning without icepick joint pain…so you can feel better, younger, and more energized than you have in years…and more.
There’s no need to be afraid of maintenance, because maintenance is AMAZING.
Please don’t let fear of it hold you back from getting there just because you’ve never been there (or stayed there) before.
