Boy, tummy bloat can sure be uncomfortable, can’t it?
That’s why, in this post, I’m gonna help you identify what might be causing your uncomfortable tummy bloating.
Here are five possible causes.
1 – Something you ate (or are eating regularly).
Food is by far the most common cause of tummy bloating. Even certain so-called “healthy” foods, like beans, lentils, and some vegetables, can cause it.
If you eat a lot of sugar and junk food, and/or overdo it with coffee, alcohol, soda, and/or energy drinks, your gut microbiome is probably pretty messed up. Tummy bloating is one of many possible indicators that something’s going on with your gut.
It may be a combination of foods (including “healthy” ones), or it may be mostly one food in particular, like grains or dairy.
Eliminating suspect foods can help you identify the culprit, but odds are, unless you’ve already cleaned up your diet with Code Red, your tummy bloating’s not gonna go away naturally until you get your diet clean, and keep it there.

2 – High levels of stress.
When your body’s stressed out, it hangs onto water, including around your internal organs. It’s not at all uncommon to experience abdominal bloating when you’re stressed or full of anxiety.

3 – Your menstrual cycle (if you’re female).
Some women experience bloating before and/or during their monthly cycle.
It’s not particularly comfortable, but it usually goes away after your cycle ends.

4 – Poop problems, or other gastrointestinal issues.
When you’re not pooping, and it goes on long enough, abdominal bloating may occur. It’s important to stay regular – not as an extreme weight loss measure (PLEASE do not fall into that trap), but as a way to help your body flush toxins, and parts of food it didn’t (or couldn’t) utilize.

5 – A serious heart problem.
Unexplained fluid retention may signal an issue with your heart. The fluid buildup may happen in your extremities, not just your abdominal area. Unexplained, rapid weight gain caused by fluid retention is another possible symptom of a serious heart problem.
Please contact your doctor immediately if you even suspect this may be going on.
If you’re experiencing persistent tummy bloating, one of these five factors is often the cause, but when in doubt, seek proper medical treatment immediately.
