I almost never tell people who join the Code Red Lifestyle™ that they can eat what they want, when they want, because my idea of eating what you want, when you want isn’t the same as most people’s.
My idea of eating what I want, when I want, means I don’t feel pressured to eat “breakfast foods” for breakfast; or even to eat breakfast (or a meal later in the day) if I’m not hungry.
I heard a great analogy from a Rebel whose co-workers were puzzled as to why she wouldn’t go have lunch with them.
She told them, “I’m not hungry,” then turned the tables and asked them why they wanted to eat.
“Because it’s lunch time,” they told her.
So she replied, “Eating just because it’s lunch time, instead of because you’re hungry, is like fueling up your car just because you drive by a gas station.”
That’s what I mean when I say I eat what I want, when I want.
I don’t restrict myself to foods society labels as only appropriate for certain times of day.
I also don’t restrict myself to eating at times of day society labels as meal times.
It doesn’t mean I eat crap at 9 p.m. at night. It means I listen to my body and eat when it works for me; and what helps me maintain my weight loss.
