Someone called the Code Red Lifestyle™ “extreme.” Here’s my response.

It happens a lot.

Someone new to Code Red gets a look at the foods list, or hears that we drink a gallon of water a day, or weigh ourselves daily, and instantly label Code Red as “extreme.”

Seriously?? Real food, water, and sleep are “extreme?”

To anyone who thinks Code Red is “extreme,” here are MY definitions of extreme.

Our nation’s obesity crisis is extreme.

It’s extreme being obese, sick, in pain, and on eight medications.

It’s extreme to ingest gobs of foods that poison into your body every day, multiple times a day.

It’s extreme to lie to people who are in extreme pain and extremely overweight by telling them they “have” to exercise in order to lose weight.

It’s extreme to expect a magic pill or powder to unravel decades of abusing food and alcohol (and extreme to have the gall to lead people to believe that).

It’s extreme to think cutting out most of your stomach and reducing it to the size of a Nyquil cup is your only hope of getting the weight off.

And it’s extreme to think you can make a temporary change to lose your weight, then go back to what you were doing that got you fat and sick in the first place, without gaining your weight back.

Compared with all that, does real food, water, and sleep really seem all that extreme?

If so, then I’ll just say extreme times call for extreme measures.
