She died three times (but survived!)

Let me tell you about a Rebel named Trista, who lost 105 pounds on the Code Red Lifestyle™ and is now learning how to keep it off in our maintenance coaching program.

Before Code Red, Trista was a fat athlete. She loved the outdoors and physical activity, yet tipped the scales at 226 pounds (which is a LOT on her petite frame). In the gym, she lifted heavy weights but couldn’t run even half a mile.

“The extra weight moving up and down on my body PHYSICALLY hurt,” she explained. “When I would go backpacking I would stop to ‘take pictures’ because I thought I was going to pass out.”

Trista told herself the same lies a lot of people tell themselves, like she “had a lot of muscle” and “was big boned.”

Trista’s turning point came after she graduated with her Master’s degree and lost her mom. “I found myself ashamed, hurting, embarrassed, and wanting to hide in a hole. On a flight back from graduation I declined to help in a medical emergency because that would have meant everyone on the plane would have seen me squeezing my oversized body down the aisle. That was my line in the sand.”

Desperate, Trista researched weight loss surgery, but found the Code Red Lifestyle™ instead and learned about the 10 Pound Takedown. She went on to sign up for a customized program to reach her goal. “Through the process I engrossed myself in the community and found myself wanting to learn more about the lifestyle and how to keep the weight off,” she told me.

After losing 95 of her 105 pounds, something happened that no one saw coming.

Trista survived THREE back to back cardiac arrests…which, according to her doctors, she would not have survived if she hadn’t lost the 95 pounds.

See, Trista had to be revived all three times, which put a huge amount of stress on her body that it would not have been able to handle if she hadn’t lost the 95 pounds.

Yet not only did she survive all three cardiac arrests, her recovery “was less than a week and I was back to work,” she told me.

“Living the Code Red Lifestyle™, I don’t look at physical activity as something that I’m limited by,” Trista said about her new life as a Code Red Rebel. “Life has a brighter outlook and food is the fuel that propels me through the day. In general, I’m a happier person and I have the ENERGY to accomplish my to-do lists and enjoy things like gardening, hiking, and walking because my body is more able. I don’t hide my body from my husband anymore and am more confident in situations I would have otherwise found myself avoiding.”

If you’re thinking of giving Code Red a shot (or you’ve fallen away and are deciding whether to come back), here’s what Trista would like you to know:

“What do you have to lose? You already know what happens when you eat food that is empty and doesn’t have proper nutrients. So why not give the proper human diet a go and see what happens? You know what crap food tastes like. Don’t eat it and see what happens, see how you feel, sit with that feeling and remember it. This is the easiest hard thing I’ve ever done, it comes down to how badly you want something and how tired of your own excuses you are.”
