WELL over half the people who join the Code Red Lifestyle have medical issues, in addition to weight they want to lose.

Among these issues is no longer having a gallbladder.

A gallbladder’s purpose is to hold digestive enzymes that help break down fats you consume.

Since the Code Red Lifestyle is a high-fat, low-carb lifestyle, people without a gallbladder are understandably concerned, because without a gallbladder, your body cannot regulate when those digestive enzymes are released.

This may or may not make digesting fat difficult.

But even so, can you succeed on the Code Red Lifestyle without a gallbladder?

Yes, you can! In fact, I have several Rebels with no gallbladder who are succeeding on this lifestyle with no problems.

There are also some who’ve needed to tweak a few things.

So here are some tips for succeeding on the Code Red Lifestyle without your gallbladder (assuming you have any problems in the first place, which you may not).

First of all, someone whose gallbladder was removed a month ago may have a different experience than someone whose gallbladder was removed a year ago. A lot can change in that time, so keep that mind.

People without a gallbladder who consume fats and find that it bothers them often manage very well by focusing on plant-based fats, like nuts, nut butters, seeds, avocado, coconut oil, chia, and flax, and minimizing or avoiding animal-based fats like full-fat dairy, eggs, and bacon.

Keeping a food diary can help pinpoint which foods bother you the most. Some people struggle with bacon, but do great with cream cheese.

Avoid consuming any beverages (including water) one hour before and one hour after your meals. This will prevent liquids from diluting your stomach acid, and digestion will be easier for you.

If you do all of the above and still have problems, consider speaking with your primary care provider about adding digestive enzymes to every meal.

Digestive enzymes are also available over the counter. Here’s some I recommend: https://amzn.to/2Oi6QPW.

If you’re without a gallbladder, it doesn’t mean you can’t succeed on a high-fat, low-carb lifestyle like Code Red. I know because I’ve got hundreds of Rebels without their gallbladder who have done it or are doing it. So can you!
