How do you know when your electrolytes are balanced?

Due to the way we eat on the Code Red Lifestyle™, and the fact we drink a gallon of water a day, some people may experience an electrolyte imbalance.

Electrolytes are minerals in your body that serve multiple important functions: Minerals like magnesium, potassium, sodium, and calcium, to name a few.

An imbalance in your electrolytes doesn’t happen to everyone who switches to Code Red.

If it does happen, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

  • – Dizziness
  • – Muscle cramps (particularly in the legs or other major muscle groups)
  • – Feeling tired
  • – Fast or irregular heart rate
  • – Nausea
  • – Throwing up
  • – Muscle weakness
  • – Irritability
  • – Confusion
  • – Foggy brained
  • – Headaches
  • – Numbness
  • – Tingling

What happens is, if you choose to eat a lot of processed foods, and/or a lot of high-carb foods, your body retains a lot of water.

On Code Red, we do not eat foods that hang on to water. We also a drink a lot of water.

When you stop eating foods that hold onto water, and start drinking water, you’re flushing out a lot of toxins and chemicals, and some of your electrolytes may go with them.

You’ll know your electrolytes are balanced if you’re not experiencing any of the symptoms I mention above.

If you are experiencing any of them, I don’t want you panicking, because it’s VERY simple to balance your electrolyte levels by simply adding electrolytes.

You can salt your food with a good quality salt. I prefer Redmond Real Salt: https://shop.redmond.life?afmc=5a. (Use codered15 for a discount). Add 1/8th of teaspoon of Redmond Real Salt to each bottle of water that you drink. Here is a great video about salt that is worth watching.

You can also drink pickle juice, and/or you can consume Apple Cider Vinegar (get the kind with the mother and always dilute it in water and drink it through a straw to protect your tooth enamel).

Another option is to replace your electrolytes with supplementation. Below are a few options for you:

ULTIMA: https://amzn.to/2A10n8X .

Redmond RE-LYTE electrolyte mix or salt tabs. https://shop.redmond.life/collections/re-lyte discount code: codered15

Another option is the Hydra-Charge from Kaged Muscle: https://www.kagedmuscle.com/products/hydra-charge, discount code: codered15. (Please note the Hydra-Charge is the only product I endorse for the Code Red Lifestyle™.)

For cramping, you can try foam rolling and/or gentle stretching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzSU2FiFKTM.

This formula taken before bed also helps some Rebels: https://amzn.to/2NFv71c. Plus you can find it in person just about it anywhere.

A hot bath before bed while soaking in Epsom salts is helpful as well for cramping.

If you are still concerned, see your doctor. And seek medical advice if you become faint or have heart concerns (that’s pretty rare).

Different people need differing amounts of electrolyte replenishment. Some people do fine just salting their food. Others need an electrolyte replacement supplement in every bottle of water. It really depends on the person.

Don’t let fear of an electrolyte imbalance scare you away from Code Red. It’s easy to treat, and the alternative is to keep eating junk and sugar that’s feeding obesity and destroying your body from the inside out.
