You Are Getting Stronger

Ever hear the phrase, “By a mile it’s a trial, by an inch it’s a cinch?”

When you set out to improve your life in some way, like joining the Code Red Lifestyle, it’s exciting at first.

Other times, it takes all your strength.

Either way, overwhelm can sneak up and knock you off course, and you end up asking, “What have I gotten myself into?”

I get it. When you’re used to going through the drive-thru three times a day, or eating anything you want whenever you want, the idea of eating from a one-page foods list can be daunting.

So can the notion of resisting all the tempting “foods you love” as they coming at you left and right.

These moments are where the saying “by an inch it’s a cinch” comes in.

Instead of sinking further and further into overwhelm and all the what-ifs, zoom in and focus on just today.

Or just the next hour. Or even just the very next choice.

Don’t let your mind race ahead to all the what-ifs that haven’t even happened (and probably never will).

“But Cristy, do I really have to be that strong every single minute of every single day? I don’t know if I can do that!”

Yes, you can, but not for the reason you may think.

Each time you make the better choice for yourself, it gets a little easier, which means soon you won’t have to try so hard.

In fact, the more you stick with it, the stronger you’ll get.

I know it seems hard in the moment, which is why I want you to always remember: You do hard things, whether you eat that donut or not.

The reason what you’re doing now doesn’t seem as hard as making a change is because you’re used to it.

Stick with your positive choices long enough to get used to them.

Once that happens, it won’t be such a struggle to make them.

As your clothes get looser, the scale number drops, and you start feeling better than you have in years, you’ll be so glad you hung in there!
