That number on the scale. Ever notice how much of our self-worth is tied up in what it says?

We’re ALL more than that number on the scale, for sure.

Yet I insist my Rebels weight themselves on a daily basis.

Most of society struggles with the idea of daily weigh-ins.

Weight gain and weight loss are both very emotional experiences, so we see that number on the scale either as proof we’re great, or as proof we’re a failure.

But to me, the number on the scale is just that: A number. It’s a tool, like the scale itself.

Weighing yourself daily is also a tool, because doing so allows you to see whether what you ate, when you ate, how much sleep you got, and so on, affected your weight.

NOT weighing ourselves daily contributed to our weight gain the first place. We stuck our heads in the sand because we couldn’t bear to confront that number.

I don’t allow my Code Red Rebels to stick their heads in the sand. They learn to own their choices, then take action to make positive, healthy change.

Daily weigh-ins are a tool to accomplish that. They’re about accountability, something we all need (including me)!

The number on the scale is neither right or wrong, good or bad, any more than the temperature reading on a thermometer is right or wrong, or good or bad.

It’s simply a tool. Stop investing your self-esteem in it, and start utilizing it!
