Do You Tell Yourself These Lies?

There’s a lot of controversial things about the Code Red Lifestyle…like the fact you don’t need any exercise to lose weight; or that we drink a gallon of water a day.

Another controversial element is the fact we weigh ourselves every day. Why is that one controversial?

It’s because so many people tie their self-worth into that number on the scale.

I view daily weigh-ins as a form of accountability. It has nothing to do with your value as a human being.

Everybody needs accountability, because without it, we succumb to the bull crap excuses and flat-out lies we tell ourselves.

By lies, I mean things like, “There’s no way I’ve gone up another clothing size. They’re just making the clothes smaller.”

Or, “Today was a rotten day. I deserve a maple bar as my reward for putting up with it.”

And even, “I’ve been coming to the movies for years. When did they start making the seats so small?”

No one likes facing hard truths. Not even me! It feels like admitting you’re “wrong,” and nobody enjoys that.

But sticking our heads in the sand doesn’t make the problem go away, any more than sweeping a big wad of cat hair under an area rug means the cat hair’s magically gone.

Facing the music, swallowing that bitter pill, and saying “You know what? I’ve had it with this,” is not only how you change, it’s how you make change stick.

It’s also how you fend off the sneaky little voice in your head that chimes in during weak moments and urges you to do destructive things.

Stop fleeing from accountability, and embrace it!

Remember, it’s not about being “wrong.” It’s about facing the hard truth, taking ownership of it, and then choosing a better way.

THAT is what you “deserve,” not another bite of junk food that’s just going to make you fatter and sicker.
