If you wanna see my head explode, here’s a question that’ll do it every time:
“Cristy, I know we’re not supposed to cheat on Code Red. But if I were going to cheat, what’s the best way?”
Because I’m a very black and white person, I don’t relate to this kind of mentality.
If I decide I’m gonna do something, that’s it. I’m gonna do it.
Doesn’t matter whether it’s record my next podcast episode, listen to my business coach, or get my morning run with Annabelle in. If I decide I’m gonna do it, that’s it.
There’s no half-assing it, no looking for ways to “kinda sorta almost do it.”
I do it, or I don’t do it, whether or not I “feel like it.”
That same decisiveness is what I expect from my Rebels, but it’s not always what I get.
Some people just aren’t ready when they find Code Red, so instead of following the program and getting their weight off, they expend all their energy looking for ways to “kinda, sorta, almost” follow the program.
They’ll recreate “Code Red” versions of recipes, instead of sticking with the foods list and keeping it simple.
They’ll give themselves days off, or cheat days (none of which I allow in weight loss mode), further prolonging the time they spend losing weight.
I’ve even had people combine Code Red with “diets” they’ve tried, thinking some hybrid of the two that allows them to eat food I take you off of in weight loss mode is gonna work better than following Code Red’s simple rules and foods list. (It doesn’t.)
Look, I get that change doesn’t sound appealing to you, so here’s what I want you to do.
Stop dwelling on all the stuff you “can’t” have.
In fact, stop saying you “can’t” have it. You can, anytime you want. But you’re choosing not do. There’s a big difference in how you’ll feel by switching your mindset from “I can’t” to “I can, but I choose not to.”
Also start focusing on all the amazing things you have to look forward to, or are already experiencing.
Are your clothes fitting looser? How about your rings? Can you finally wear them again? (Or take them off for the first time in 8 years…)
How about your energy. Your moods. How do you feel physically? Are your stomach problems gone? No more heartburn? Less insulin (or no insulin)?
Your weight loss will go a whole lot better if you ditch the workarounds and focus on following the program to the best of your ability.
Get your weight off, so you can enjoy your life in maintenance, free from the fear of gaining it all back yet again.
