Can I eat as much as I want and still lose weight?

Someone in a 10 Pound Takedown asked this question about calories:

“Is there a calorie goal or can we eat as much of the good food that we want?”

We don’t count calories in the 10 Pound Takedown.

Not because calories don’t matter, but because I want to keep it as SIMPLE as possible, and teach you to listen to your body instead of mindlessly stuffing food in your mouth for a million reasons that have nothing to do with being hungry.

That being said, since we don’t count calories on the Takedown, DOES that mean you can eat as much Code Red-approved food as you want and still expect to lose weight?

It depends on how much food “as much as you want” is.

The way we eat on Code Red teaches your body to burn fat for fuel instead of glucose. (There’s more to it than that, but that’s part of the equation.)

We also drink water and prioritize sleep, because lack of sleep increases hunger and cravings…and dehydration also leads to increased hunger.

Add to that the rich, delicious, naturally filling foods we eat, that also balance hormones (including your hunger/full hormones), and your appetite starts to manage itself…

So long as you actually pay attention and listen to it.

If you feel full and continue stuffing yourself just because you like the food, you won’t lose weight. Your body has more than enough fuel, so it doesn’t need to dip into your body fat.

Give your body the right fuel FIRST (because otherwise it sends misleading signals), just like we do on Code Red.

Then start paying attention to how full you feel. Notice when you’re stuffed vs. simply “not hungry anymore.”

Use that to help you with food volume during the Takedown.

Today I saw another Takedown Rebel post that she lost 13 pounds in a previous Takedown, so clearly, listening to your body works (again, IF you’re giving your body the right fuel).
