On the Code Red Lifestyle, we don’t snack between meals.
This flies in the face of what society’s been telling us for decades about eating every two hours to “keep up your metabolism.”
Here’s the problem with eating all the time:
If your body always has food to digest, it doesn’t need to use your body fat as fuel.
Plus, digesting food takes up two-thirds of your body’s energy.
That means if you’re always eating, your body has far fewer resources to devote to things like healing you and reseting your hormones.
Accepting this is a mindset shift for a lot of people, but most who stick with the Code Red Lifestyle come around as they experience the benefits of not snacking between meals.
However, some end up snacking between meals without realizing it!
Here’s why. When most of us hear the word meal, we think of eating solid foods, like bacon, salmon, avocado, and so on.
But the reality is, anything that contains calories counts as a meal, because that food, liquid or solid, triggers a metabolic response.
If you’re sipping coffee with heavy whipping cream in it all day long, that counts as snacking between meals, because heavy whipping cream contains calories.
So do things like smoothies, sour cream, and MCT oil, because they all have calories.
Just remember: When you have bacon, eggs, avocado, and a cup of coffee with cream for breakfast, that meal doesn’t end until you’ve finished your coffee with cream!
