6 reasons you’re hungry all the time

Hunger is a normal sensation. It’s good to be hungry. Not every second of every day, of course, but never feeling hungry isn’t ideal either.

That being side, if you’re hungry constantly, that’s not typical, either.

So, here are six common reasons you constantly feel hungry:

1) You aren’t getting enough sleep.

If your sleep quality isn’t good enough, or you aren’t getting enough, your body will send hunger signals because it figures you need to stay awake. (Meaning, if you don’t, your life is in danger.) Eating will give you a temporary energy boost, yes, but it’s no substitute for sleep; and it comes with a lot of detriments, including weight gain.

2) You’re stressed.

It’s very common when you feel stressed to wanna eat in order to numb that feeling of being stressed out. But your body hangs onto water when it’s stressed, so combine that with eating to numb the stress, and it’s a recipe for weight gain.

3) You’re not hydrated enough (with water – soda, coffee, and other beverages don’t count).

Next time you feel hungry, drink at least 16 ounces of water and give it a few minutes. It could be that your body needs hydration, not food!

4) You’re eating processed food, and/or not enough fat.

Processed food is chemically engineered to be addictive. It’s also devoid of nutrients, so you never feel truly satisfied. Combine these two facts with processed food’s inflammatory ingredients, and it’s a recipe for getting fatter and fatter.

It might also be that you aren’t eating enough healthy dietary fat. Fat helps you feel full and satisfied, and the feeling lasts longer than it does with fiber and protein.

5) You’re running from something you don’t wanna feel.

Many people in today’s world have conditioned themselves to self-soothe with food.

If you feel like you can’t stop eating, it could be you’re trying to escape feeling something that you don’t want to feel.

Until you turn and face what it is you don’t want to feel, that urge to eat in order to get relief from feeling that feeling won’t let up.

Feelings are like predators. When you run, they chase you.

Turn and face them, and you’ll take a lot of the charge out of that urge to gobble down anything you can.

6) It’s “that” time of the month.

If you’re a woman who hasn’t gone through menopause, the week before your monthly cycle may involve more hunger and cravings.

Get through it by recognizing that it’s temporary. Chew gum or ice, or sip hot tea, to help you hang in there. Also see if something like Code Red Hormone Support can help.

Some hunger during the day, between your meals, is totally normal.

But if you’re hungry constantly, something else is going on, and odds are it’s one of the things I’ve listed here. Work on them one by one to discover which one might be the source of your constant hunger!
