Still trying to do it all on your own?

Recently a Code Red Rebel who’d disappeared from the Code Red community returned to us, sharing she returned because she was tired of trying to do Code Red on her own.

She’d enjoyed success with a 10 Pound Takedown challenge about three years ago, then disconnected because she thought she could do it on her own…which, technically, she could have.

And yet, she didn’t.

Instead, she gained back half of what she’d lost.

Fed up, she returned to Code Red because she knows, from personal experience, that it works, especially when you stay connected and get that extra support and accountability.

This lady is far from the only person to fall for the “I should be able to do this on my own” trap. It happens all the time.

That’s why I constantly talk about the power of staying connected to Code Red, because the majority of people who disconnect start struggling.

They’re left alone with their old ways, and nothing to offset those old ways. So bit by bit, they start slipping, and soon enough, the weight is piling back on.

I really wish it wasn’t the case, but it’s the pattern I see in the vast majority of people who disconnect.

During my professional boxing days, I had coaches and trainers, because I knew I’d be better with them than I ever could be on my own.

I sure as heck didn’t fire them and say, “I should be able to win this title fight on my own.”

People seem to get weirded out at the thought of saying connected, and start telling themselves, “I got this. I need to be able to do this on my own. If I can’t do it on my own, it won’t stick, so I need to do it on my own.”

Besides, disconnecting from what works to get you a result – like staying connected – makes about as much sense as using your arm to pick up a sack of groceries and put them in your trunk, only to cut off your arm off and say, “I should be able to pick up that sack of groceries without my arm.”

There’s probably a way to pick up your groceries without the arm you removed, but wouldn’t it make more sense to keep your arm and use it to pick up the sack of groceries? Arms are great for that sort of thing, and Code Red is great for helping you become AND stay successful.

Watch out for your ego’s bullcrap “I need to do this on my own” thinking. There’s a time and a place for that in life, but if it means abandoning what’s helped you be successful, beware the “I need to do this on my own” trap.
