Someone in the Code Red private network saw other Rebels sharing meals with pork rinds in them, and commented that they just didn’t see how pork rinds were a “health food.”
It’s a fair point. If I were to make a list of THE premium, most healthy foods on the planet, pork rinds wouldn’t be on the list.
So why am I okay with Rebels eating them?
Because there’s a spectrum of eating we use on Code Red, called Good-Better-Best. I even did a podcast on it.
Pork rinds fall in the “good” category, for one simple reason…
Someone who’s obese and sick and eating half a gallon of ice cream every night is gonna lose weight and feel better by switching to a taco salad made with pork rinds.
There are plenty of “health gurus” in the world who insist every bite of food you eat HAS to be premium, home-grown, and top of the line. They’re so adamant about it that it turns people away.
And hey, that route is totally fine for people who wanna go there.
For the record, I absolutely support eating the highest quality food you can get your hands on. (If I didn’t, I wouldn’t tell you about Cross O Meats or Fresh-Pressed Olive Oil Club.) REAL food is what’s best for sure.
I do not, however, REQUIRE you to eat only the highest quality foods in order to do Code Red, because someone can still lose weight, feel better, and notice improvements by moving from terrible to GOOD on the Good-Better-Best spectrum of eating.
Ideally, you’d be eating real food 100% of the time…but I’m not gonna deprive you of fast, safe weight loss and feeling better if you aren’t in a position to eat premium real food 100% of the time.
As for pork rinds, if you don’t think they’re healthy, don’t eat them. Eat the Code Red-approved fats, veggies, and proteins that are right for you.
