Teaching your kids to eat healthy foods is an uphill battle.
There’s no shortage of marketing aimed at selling terrible-quality food to kids (that, unfortunately, tastes good, and is chemically engineered to be addictive).
Plus, most kids love junk food (just like most adults do), and many parents, not realizing what they’re doing, program their kids to hate healthy foods and love junk food.
When you do realize you want your kids to make better choices than you did, it can be hard.
Part of you feels like they’re “suffering” if you minimize their sugar intake. (If that worries you, remember that they’ll suffer even more if they get Type 2 diabetes and other diseases sugar feeds into, which is practically everything).
Part of you may feel guilty that you accidentally trained them to love junk food, and now you won’t put your foot down because of that guilt.
(See my previous comment…how guilty will you feel if they get sick because you refused to even try to improve their eating habits?)
I don’t have kids, but I’m also not oblivious to the challenge of today’s world. Plus my sister, Cari, has kids, and so do most of my Code Red Rebels. There’s plenty of wisdom out there to help you.
So I put together a video with five tips to encourage kids to eat healthfully. Click below to watch it!
One more thing…the best thing you can do to encourage your kids to eat healthfully is to be the example. Get and stay consistent with your choices. Your kids are watching, and you have more impact than you think.
