3 Reasons You Just Wanna Eat, Eat, & Eat Some More!

When you’re correctly following the Code Red Lifestyle™, getting your sleep, and drinking your water, it’s pretty rare to experience a constant urge to eat.

So if you’re doing everything right, including getting plenty of healthy fat in your diet, plus eating meat and veggies, why the heck do you just wanna eat all the time?

Here are three reasons the desire to eat may keep hounding you even if you’re doing everything right. (If you’re not doing everything right, the urge to eat is related to not following the lifestyle correctly and consistently, so start there.)

Reason #1: Your stress hormones are imbalanced.

This one is actually SUPER common, especially in today’s climate.

Between years of eating food that leads to hormone imbalances (and making the feeling of stress worse), combined with day-to-day stressors, it’s very common to wanna eat simply because you’re stressed.

Even if you don’t think you’re stressed, you may be.

Taking something like the Code Red Stress Support Bundle can rebalance your cortisol and, as that happens, cravings may start to reduce in intensity, or disappear altogether.

Reason #2: You’re feeling emotions you don’t want to feel.

Whether it’s stress, uncertainty, overwhelm, grief, fear, or something else, you’ve probably unknowingly conditioned yourself – as have most people – to eat when you want to escape feeling something.

Instead of allowing ourselves to actually feel what we’re feeling, we numb with food and never learn effective emotion management skills.

Emotions are triggers for all sorts of behaviors. Yelling, drinking, losing yourself in TV or on your phone, and of course, eating.

Ask yourself what it is you’re feeling that you don’t want to be feeling. Just identifying it may be enough to reduce that urge to keep eating.

You can also look at getting the What’s Eating You? online course for help identifying which emotions and situations trigger you to wanna eat.

Reason #3: You’re overstimulated.

Some people are naturally more prone to being overstimulated by sights and sounds. Being around other people for long periods of time, or stuck in noisy, overwhelming environments really drains people who are prone to this.

As a result, they wanna eat in order to numb the overstimulation, and maybe even give themselves an energy boost, since being overstimulated is pretty tiring.

There are other ways to get a break from – and/or reduce – overstimulation. Earplugs, sunglasses, more quiet time, and more rest can all help take the edge off.

The urge to eat constantly when you’re already eating clean, sleeping, and drinking water probably means something deeper is going on. Explore these three common issues to see if one of them might be the source of your urge to eat constantly!
