
I was at the 2024 Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competition in Las Vegas, and here’s what I saw…
Thousands of (mostly) overweight bodybuilding fans looking for the “next greatest thing”…
Along with a TON of companies all-too-happy to provide the next pill, powder, gadget, or DNA test (the latter of which supposedly tells them what they “can’t metabolize”).
For me, whether or not the DNA test is accurate and helps you refine your food choices for better weight loss and long-term health is a moot point.
To be clear, I’m not saying it WON’T have that kind of impact. It might!
But if you’re eating garbage or eating too much, it won’t help as much as you think (or at all), because it can’t.
And that’s for one simple reason: NOBODY gets out of the rules.
Put another way, DNA tests and other “next greatest things” won’t help you if you aren’t nailing the basics.
For example, if some DNA test says you can’t metabolize carbs, and you go home and overeat misleading “low-carb” bread made with wheat, you’re gonna have weight and health problems.
If you take a pill that boosts your metabolism and use it as an excuse to eat a whole bag of Oreos instead of “just” half the bag, you’re still gonna have weight and health problems.
If you drink a clean protein shake with your breakfast of sugary cereal, three donuts, and a half gallon of coffee, you’re still gonna have weight and health problems.
It’s disturbing how many people will spend thousands of dollars to get “the answer” that’s not an answer.
Magic pills aren’t the answer.
Magic powders aren’t the answer.
Magic shots aren’t the answer.
Those are all majoring in the minors.
Real food. Water. Sleep.
Those are your “answers.”
Focusing on those is majoring in what will MAJORLY move the needle (when done correctly and consistently)…
And do it regardless of your DNA, body type, whether you’ve had kids, your age, your gender, your thyroid, how long you’ve had a weight problem, or any other reason you’ve been told is why you can’t lose weight.
Stop wasting your time and money majoring in the minors and consistently do what ACTUALLY works.
When you’re consistently using real food, water, and sleep, things like supplements and a DNA test can potentially have an impacts…and possibly a BIG impact…because you’ve already got the basics in place.
Ignoring the basics is like trying to install windows on a house you haven’t even built yet…or paint a car with no engine or wheels. It can’t do what it’s designed to do because the MAJOR pieces it needs aren’t in place.
Bottom line: Instead of avoiding the basics for the latest gimmick, focus on NAILING them instead.
That will do more for your weight loss and health than any gimmick, shot, or magic pill!
