Read what this long-time Code Red Rebel shared about why she’s been more successful on Code Red compared to ANYTHING else she’s tried:
“I, like a lot of people, have been on just about every diet plan offered on the planet….short of weight loss surgery. The reason I probably did not do that is because of the amount of money to have the surgery. Throughout the years, I have literally lost 100’s of pounds only to gain the weight back. The one constant with my returned weight gain was not holding myself accountable and getting community support. Code Red is the ONLY lifestyle I have kept in constant contact with. If I am able to share one piece of advice it would be to join a 10 Pound Takedown Challenge, become involved DAILY with the Code Red community and engage in this new lifestyle. It truly is the last time you will waste money searching for the ‘next best fix’ to weight loss. That’s a promise!!“
I’m SO glad to see that this Rebel recognizes how important community is for long-term success.
I talk about the value of community a LOT, and some people think it means I’m trying to keep you dependent on Code Red.
Look, if everyone in the world did Code Red, got their weight off, and kept it off without Code Red’s help, I’d retire happy. I’d move onto other things. I don’t want you dependent on Code Red.
AND after being in weight loss for over 30 years, here’s the pattern I see:
People who disconnect from the community (in any program) gain their weight back.
Not 100% of people. But the vast majority.
And it’s NOT because they don’t know what to do.
They know the program works.
They’ve lost their weight and feel amazing.
They can’t imagine going back.
So why do they? Why do YOU?
Because your old ways are still SO much more powerful than your new ways.
Your neural pathways in your brain are much deeper.
Your unconscious mind has been automating them for much longer.
And fighting with all that brain wiring “all on your own” isn’t something most people can do (just like even the best surgeon can’t operate on themselves).
You need strong, ongoing immersion in your new ways while you build them up to be as strong as your old ways.
Until and unless you do, your old ways will stay stronger, and here’s why.
Your brain is wired to want the path of least resistance. It’s a survival mechanism to conserve energy. It’s why “the easy way” is always the most appealing way.
And until your new ways are as strong as your old ways, your old ways will stay the path of least resistance.
That means you’ll either keep wasting money on “the next best fix” for your weight loss, or you’ll say screw it and give up.
But I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be that way. Not as long as you embrace and act on the idea that doing it “all on your own” is setting yourself up to fail.
Stop thinking you should already be able to do this “all on your own.”
Stop beating yourself up and thinking there’s something wrong with you if you haven’t been able to succeed “all on your own.”
There’s nothing wrong with you.
You’re a human with a human brain that’s trying to keep you alive.
And sometimes, its methods are not what you actually need…methods like isolating you from a community out of shame or thinking you should be able to do it “all on your own” already.
The “next best weight loss FIX” isn’t to bend over backwards trying to avoid doing ANYTHING uncomfortable.
It’s to do what works, uncomfortable or not, until what works becomes comfortable.
That might take longer than you like, but it will happen IF you stick with the program long enough.
