Recently I took my dog, Hazel, out for a run in the woods near my cabin, and I dressed for a run (meaning I wore less clothing, so I wouldn’t get hot).
It was a beautiful 52 degrees, and the sun was shining.
After we got out there, I decided to walk instead of run.
So, because I was dressed for a run, I actually got a little cold!
It didn’t kill me, obviously. Ain’t nobody gonna die from a little discomfort, whether that’s discomfort from cold, or emotional discomfort, or even the discomfort of hunger.
Most people on Code Red lose weight without being hungry. (Hunger between meals is normal…I’m talking about ongoing, constant hunger.)
Some people even get a Home Study program and say they “can’t finish their calories.”
That sure ain’t me! I can eat my calories, your calories – everyone’s calories!
Back in 2017, when Certified Coach Andrea Dell was doing her Home Study program, she was often hungry.
Andrea’s appetite is like mine (i.e. she can eat everyone’s calories, too!). Her metabolism is also on the faster side.
(She still got fat, so even with a “fast metabolism” you can overdo it).
Plus, she was active, and we don’t give extra calories for exercise on Code Red, so that made her extra hungry!
Between those three things, she was pretty hungry for all 7.5 weeks of her Home Study program, which is how long it took her to lose her last 28 pounds.
She was also navigating the totally unexpected loss of her job, and working to get her fledging business to a level where it could actually support her.
My point is, Andrea had a LOT of discomfort going on at once.
But ask her if it was worth it to go through it all, and she’ll tell you that YES, it was.
Discomfort isn’t something most people seek out. (Some do, because they know it makes them stronger, but most people don’t.)
The thing is, when you flee from discomfort, you’re usually fleeing INTO comfort…and if you’re reading this, that probably includes falling into the arms of food.
So again I say: Ain’t nobody gonna die from a little discomfort.
Stop running from it and start facing it (especially because what you run from chases you).
Get good at facing your discomfort, and there’s almost nothing you can’t do…no goal you can’t accomplish…
Including getting and keeping your weight off.
As the saying goes: Get comfortable being UNcomfortable!
