Your mind is playing tricks on you

I was REALLY excited to go to my cabin this week. I didn’t spend a lot of time there during my eight months of bodybuilding training, because I don’t have access to gym equipment I need.

I planned to stay two nights, but I only ended up staying one…because I picked up a screw in my tire.

My Tesla tracks tire pressure in real time, and it was squawking at me that the tire was really low.

I used Tamarack security’s air compressor to air it up, but it was leaking so rapidly, it wouldn’t even last the night.

So, instead of enjoying one more night at the cabin, where I’d crawl into bed, listen to the rain on the roof, and drift into a deep, peaceful sleep, I loaded up Hazel and my mom’s dog, Vela, and headed back to Boise.

Before I left, I stopped at a c-store to put air in the tire again and go pee.

While I’m here, I may as well get something to eat, I thought…because I always wanna eat even on short road trips.

But then I caught myself.

“Get something to eat??” I repeated. “It’s 6:45 PM and I’m going to bed as soon as I get home. I don’t need something to eat!”

Boy do our minds play tricks on us when it comes to food.

You could even say they try to “screw” us! (haha)

Most of the time, when we think we “need” to eat, we actually don’t.

I didn’t need to eat after I aired up my tire at that c-store. Part of my mind WANTED me to eat.

BIG difference.

That urge to eat “just because” is a dangerous one. It’s not from hunger – it’s habit, or boredom, or wanting to stop feeling something you don’t wanna feel, like fear, stress, or anxiety.

Whatever the reason, remember that we see food as FUEL on Code Red.

So talk back to that voice that thinks you “need something to eat.”

Tell it, “No, I’m good until my next meal time.”
