“I know what to do, but I can’t seem to do it.”
Ever felt that way?
Especially with losing weight?
If so, it ain’t just you.
And your problem isn’t things like lack of discipline, laziness, or no willpower.
Oh, those things can for sure be a factors.
But they’re just symptoms of a MUCH deeper mindset issue you aren’t aware of.
It has to do with the primal parts of your mind – the ones that manage your survival instinct.
Your mind and body are hard-wired for survival, and they fight against anything THEY think contradicts your ability to survive.
The problem with that is that surviving is not the same as thriving.
Let’s take being obese as an example.
All that extra body fat is stored energy.
So if there’s ever a food shortage, you have a ton of excess energy your body can tap into in order to fuel you.
But all that extra energy comes with several downsides:
– Your body’s going to fight to hold onto that stored fat. Not right away, but eventually, if there’s not enough food coming in. To do that, it’ll slow your metabolism way down AND it’ll start burning muscle tissue, since muscle tissue is more work, metabolically, to maintain.
– Carrying too much extra body fat comes with serious health risks. It’s hard on your joints, it strains your heart and your digestive system (everything, really), and it puts you at a much greater risk of dying early.
Your body and the primal part of your mind are going to do what they’re going to do in order to keep you alive.
It’s up to you to use the “thinking” part of your brain – the one that can make choices that go against all that primal wiring – to consciously steer your mind and body into behaviors that help you thrive…behaviors like getting and keeping the extra weight off, managing stress and sleep, drinking water, and so on.
Forcing yourself to do it is one option, and it’s what most people have to do at some point.
But you can also learn to work WITH those primal parts of your mind so that they help you instead of fight you.
I’ll show you how on the 21-Day Identity Shift, which you can learn more about at www.21dayshift.com.
