A Rebel in the Code Red app shared this:
“Have you ever just wanted to accomplish an ever-elusive goal? I’ve been on this weight loss journey since I was in my teens. I am now at a weight that I haven’t seen since my teens. The Code Red Lifestyle has helped me get to this point. I want to see this goal through for the sense of accomplishment and mostly for my health.
“Another reason is watching my mom go through complications from type 2 diabetes. She has survived a major heart attack and a major stroke. We are so glad she is still here with us, but I’ve seen her quality-of-life decline in the last 10 years. I just don’t want to spend my last years in decline. I just read about an 82-year-old woman who died while hiking a trail. I want that to be me. I want to go out of this life being active and productive.”
Wow, I don’t know about you, but I really relate to the last part, about leaving life active and productive.
I also love the first thing she said, about wanting to see a goal through for the sense of accomplishment…so I can look back and say, “Yes, I did that!”
It’s one of the best feelings in the world to know you’re the kind of person who sees hard things through.
And odds are, you’ve already seen hard things through.
You’ve buried a child.
You’ve lost a parent.
You’ve survived abuse.
You’ve fought through cancer.
You had to sell your dream home.
Compared to all that, eating real food, drinking water, and sleeping are nothing.
You do hard things.
You can do this, too, because you are SO much stronger than you think.
“But Cristy, what if I don’t feel strong?”
Doesn’t matter. Strength is an action, not a feeling, just like courage is an action.
A fearless person doesn’t need courage. Courage is what it’s called when a fearful person does something they’re afraid of.
YOU are strong, you do hard things, and like I said, you can do this, too.
And remember, you don’t have to or need to “do it all on your own.”
(Hard things are hard enough without isolating yourself from support.)
