Does everything REALLY just fall apart in your 50s and 60s?

I asked Ringside Rebels to share the non-scale and non-aesthetic reasons they want to lose weight.

A Rebel who recently hit maintenance shared her reasons:

“I felt like everything was slowly falling apart in my body (both inside and outside.) I had zero energy, my moods were wonky, my skin looked awful, my joint pain was intolerable, and worst of all, I was pushing my hubby away and feeling grumpy all the time. I wanted to just hide in my house -not normal for an extrovert!!

“It didn’t happen all at once. It was gradual enough that I ignored it and thought I would just start working out harder and cut my portions and everything would change….

“My jeans didn’t fit the same. My husband seemed to stop noticing me, and I began avoiding mirrors, because not seeing felt easier than facing what I’d become.

“I chalked it up to aging and hormones. I told myself, ‘Maybe this is just what happens in your 50s and 60s.’

“But deep down, I felt like I was fading. Like I was still here, still trying—but slowly vanishing from myself.

“I wasn’t living off junk food. I exercised regularly. I started trying fad diets, skipped meals, tried every ‘reset,’ cleanse, and detox tea out there. But nothing worked. My body refused to change.

“Then I discovered Code Red. It took me a couple of tries to get my ‘stuff’ together and get serious, but once I did! -something clicked!!! Almost immediately, the pain in my joints eased. The bloating subsided. My skin cleared and my sugar cravings quieted.
But more than anything—my energy came roaring back.

“Yes, I’ve seen amazing changes on the outside. But what matters most? I feel alive again. My mental health has improved drastically and I am getting out to do the things I enjoy.

“Do I have loose skin? Sure.
But I’ll take that any day to feel whole, human, and me again!

“I still mostly avoid the mirror but when I catch a glimpse, I smile at that girl looking back at me and tell her she is doing alright! She wanted to so she did!!!”

It’s true stuff changes in your 50s and 60s…but not EVERYTHING that happens is “just because of your age.”

A lot of it is because your body’s not getting the proper fuel.

Years of copious amounts of sugar, alcohol, and processed foods catch up with you, even if you “got away with it” in your twenties. (Although these days, fewer and fewer people can “get away with it,” given how many obese children, teens, and twenty-somethings you seem.)
