Do this if you think your scale hates you

Question…

When you check the temperature outside, and it’s not a temperature you like, do you think, “My thermometer hates me?”

Probably not, right?

A thermometer is an inanimate object that displays data.

And like all inanimate objects that display data, it doesn’t have an opinion about YOU either way.

Yet SO many people end up in a love/hate relationship with the inanimate square of plastic, metal, chips, and circuits otherwise known as their bathroom scale.

Look, I get why.

But still, I want you to stop viewing your bathroom scale as some “enemy.”

Your outside thermometer isn’t your enemy, your meat thermometer isn’t your enemy, and the time and temperature display in your car aren’t your enemy.

And believe it or not, neither is your bathroom scale.

These tools ALL provide data to help you keep your finger on the pulse of what’s going on, and use that data to decide what to do next.

If your outside thermometer says it’s colder than you thought, you throw on a Code Red hoodie. You don’t go into a downward spiral.

If your meat thermometer says your chicken breast isn’t cooked through, you put it back in the oven. You don’t go into a downward spiral,

And if your bathroom scale shows a stall or a gain instead of a loss, then – you guessed it – ideally, you don’t go into a downward spiral.

The number on the scale is just data.

And the sooner you can start viewing it as data instead of as a measure of your self-worth, or your success or failure as a human being, the easier it will be to use it as it’s meant to be used:

A tool to HELP track progress.

Be sure you’re taking measurements, noticing how you feel, and noticing how your clothes fit, too.
