How to stop overthinking your weight loss

One of the most common reasons I see someone give up (or screw up) on a new lifestyle (including Code Red) is overthinking.

How it usually goes is, the person wants to know every little thing about every little thing before they’ll take action.

Then what happens is, they either don’t take action because they’ve overwhelmed themselves with information; OR, they do take action, but quickly freeze up, and for the same reason: they’ve overwhelmed themselves with information.

We all grew up in school taking tests, and went to college and took more tests. When you’re memorizing answers for a test, then yes, more information is all you need to get the result you want (a passing grade).

But life isn’t a seventh grade math test, and in real life, just knowing more information doesn’t get you results.

What gets you results is DOING something with all that information.

What’s great to remember (and easy to forget) is that you don’t actually have to know every little thing about every little thing to start getting results!

Seriously, evaluating which BBQ sauce to buy when you’re not even getting your sleep or drinking your water isn’t gonna help you.

Now, to be clear, I’m not saying information is BAD.

I’m not even saying you shouldn’t do your due diligence. Of course you should!

And information is helpful to a point, because if you don’t know what you don’t know, how can you do better?

But that being said, if you’re diving into all the information you can, and feeling overwhelmed and intimidated, that’s a giant red flag that it’s time to stop digging for information, and start doing something with the information you have.

Take some action, get some results, and focus on implementing the CURRENT information.

Remember: just KNOWING what to do won’t get your weight off.

To get your weight off, you’ve gotta actually DO what will get your weight off!
